shadowhunters aesthetics (7/?) angel!magnus (because magnus is more of an angel than most shadowhunters will ever be)

alec let his finger trace the lines of magnus’ toned bicep. the sunlight seeping through the curtains illuminated the room slightly, giving it an orange glow. magnus was pretending to be asleep and alec let him, pretending not to notice the occasional flutter of his boyfriend’s (his! boyfriend’s!) eyelashes and the small smile that seemed to be tugging at the corner of his lips.

there could’ve been a war going on at that very moment- actually, scratch that, there was a war going on at that very moment, but alec had never felt more peaceful.

he had been around half-angels all his life -he was one, for crying out loud- and yet it was only recently that he had started to notice how their angel blood didn’t really seem to… affect them. okay, maybe that wasn’t the right way to put it; it made them stronger, faster, better warriors -it made them shadowhunters- after all. but in his whole life, he hadn’t even met a handful of people who actually seemed angelic. who didn’t just look like angels, but actually behaved like that as well. who actually had a good heart. 

and then magnus came along, representing everything an angel was. or was supposed to be, at least. the way mundanes saw them. he was beautiful, obviously, but more importantly, he was kind, brave, caring and just overall good.

“angel,” alec whispered to himself, his fingertips caressing magnus’ arm.

magnus finally let a smile appear on his lips, but kept his eyes closed. his face was completely bare, the left side of it buried in the white pillow, no product in his hair, the sunlight on his face and neck and shoulder. it was probably the most beautiful thing alec had ever seen.
