Popping out of hiding again to share my Dragon Age RPG character, Shaesa, by the fabulous @kitteria-art. Poor baby has been through a lot: lost her clan, killed people she really shouldn’t have, lost her best friend (he’s still alive at least), lost her lover (he’s alive too, though minus an eye now, thanks to her), and then she had a mountain fall on her. To top it all off, she was put though the Joining, but at least she survived that.
Damn, I love this game. And if there's one thing I love more than the Dalish, it's the Grey Wardens, so she is naturally my favourite character of all time (I give so much credit to my amazing DM Derek for that - he throws stories at us that make me laugh, cry, and squeal in horror, surprise, and delight).
If anyone has a chance to commission Kitteria, you should do it. Such a delight to work with. And seriously, just look at the result. I’ve been staring at her for hours.
Thank you @cerulean--blues for my babies! I can’t recommend her enough, check out her art and if you can get a commission spot, hop on it! She’s an absolute dream to work with!
Shaesa Taralan, Dalish archer, and Narinda Dural, dwarf warrior, my characters from the Dragon Age RPG. (Seriously, if your RPG group needs a game to play, pick this one. It’s amazing.)
Oh, now I’m going to spend ages deciding just which ones to answer.
1) What foods do they love, and what foods do they refuse to eat?
Here’s the thing about Shaesa. She’s something I like to call a “flexatarian.’ If given the choice or making decisions herself, she won’t eat meat. But if it’s served to her, she’ll eat it. So it’s not like she won’t TOUCH the stuff, but she definitely prefers not to eat meat. As for foods she loves, she is fairly partial to a nice vegetable stew.
9) As a child, what did they want to be when they grew up? Did they realize their dream?
Before Shaesa’s magic manifested, she always thought that she would be a halla keeper, like her mother. She adored the creatures and her mother thought that Shaesa had the gift of being able to truly speak to them.
At the age of nine, however, she was found to be a mage. If there’s one thing Shaesa is determined to be, it’s “the best” at whatever she wants to achieve. The keeper currently had not chosen a First, as the only other mage in the clan was a boy only a year older than Shaesa. She became determined to be picked over him as the First, and indeed succeeded in being named First on her eighteenth birthday.
11) What do they do when they need comfort? Do they seek out a person, a food, an activity, etc?
Before Shaesa was the Inquisitor, she was a very solitary sort of person. Sure, she spent time with her sisters, but more often then not, she preferred to be by herself. When she was upset, being alone was the best thing for her (at least in her own mind).
But now, she finds herself relying more and more on her close friends and colleagues in the Inquisition for support. When she and Solas were together, anytime she felt overwhelmed, she would go to his rotunda and just sit with him, perhaps watching him paint, or cuddling close and reading the same book as each other.
19) What is their favourite texture?
Because Shaesa is incredibly contrary, she has two–silk and wool. Complete opposites. She’s a troll.
25) What do their hands look and feel like?
Shaesa is a very tiny person and, as such, has rather tiny hands. Her fingers are very long and dexterous however. They aren’t soft, but calloused from years of work in her Clan and then years of holding a staff and wielding magic. She keeps her nails short and clean.
