Kuchiki Byakuya

To begin with he’s pretty unhappy at the Elders essentially forcing him into an arranged marriage but he’s also sort of resigned himself to the fact.

He was lucky enough to be able to push and marry for love once so so long as he finds this match agreeable, while he’ll be sad - it’s not like he can’t live with it.

If they were a good match for each other, it wouldn’t necessarily take him long to fall in love but it would certainly take him a long time to admit it to himself.

Surely he just has these feelings because she’s his wife and it’s expected of him. Plus they spend time together and have become good friends so of course he has some kind of feelings for her.

It takes him a long time to determine if his feelings for her are genuine or out of duty. Even once he realises he truly developed feelings for her, he probably doubts himself sometimes.

He wouldn’t go to bed with her until he was sure of his feelings and hers. Perhaps she comes into this as a friendship but it’s more aware of the fact that they need to have sex at some point! He’d want her to be in the same place as him and not doing it out of a kind of obligation.

I think that there’s a good chance that Byakuya’s under pressure to get married even in the canon-verse - it’s just not relevant to the main plot so we don’t see it

After the whole debacle with his deceased first wife, I don’t know if Byakuya would go for another love match

I think that Byakuya would definitely put his family off for a while while he figured out what to do

he might try and look around for a bit, and see if there was someone he’d like to marry

either as a love match or a friend, maybe? Someone he gets along with

there’s also a strong chance he’d have some sort of arranged marriage. In historical Japan, a marriage was more of a business partnership - so Byakuya and his wife would be partner-spouses, but there wouldn’t be the expectation of love in this sort of relationship. It seems harsh to people who aren’t used to it, but it was quite proper.

and he’d pick someone that he could get along with, and someone he could be friends with, I think. He’d have enough clout in the clan for that. 

He and spouse would tag-team a lot. And they’d have plans for how to deal with kid stuff. Also Byakuya would work it so spouse would be in charge of things if he died (which is the smart thing to do - being a captain in the Gotei isn’t exactly a low-risk occupation)

Byakuya is a pretty doting husband, especially by traditional Japanese standards. Spouse knows that they can’t embarrass the clan without shit going down, but neither can Byakuya, so that’s fair. Also he doesn’t expect her to wait on him (or his mother, if she’s still alive) as was totally expected in a traditional Japanese home. Spouse has lots to do, and the freedom to pursue her own interests as well  

also Byakuya would like to pick someone that Rukia gets along with. It’s easier if his wife and his sister get along. Rukia also totally gets why he’s remarrying, which cuts a lot of the potential awkwardness
