love triangles
Sometimes I feel like the only fantasy love triangle out there is the one between:
The MC: Probably has only one actual good girlfriend, or she only has boy friends. Everyone thinks she’s beautiful, but she keeps denying it. Until, BAM, there’s a masquerade ball, and she becomes Cinderella.
The Childhood Friend: Has known MC since they were babies. Considered gorgeous by their peers. Either been in love with MC since forever, or MC has been in love with him since forever. It’s likely that he has anger issues as well. They probably spark a rebellion together, and he gets killed. Or dumped
The New Guy: Someone who’s been on MC’s radar for years, but he’s CHANGED. Or he’s actually new and sweeps her away on her feet because he’s different. He listens to her ramble, and is probably a romantic. He’s the one that MC will probably end up with.
I might make a post about writing love triangles later, but this is a trope that kind of ticks me off. If you know any good books with well-written love triangles, let me know! The Infernal Devices series has an excellent one!
