My friends decided to have a little challenge between themselves with drawing each other's characters. It's a little late, but I decided to join in!
This is my Hoshi, which I drew as a reference for other artists. This is a very old OC of mine but I'm trying to figure out how to draw her again every time 😅
A witch’s take on a wind chime. Well, I was going to make a Valhalla ladder with cinnamon sticks (though it’s typically made from driftwood), the bug of the full moon bit my ass and I was compelled to make this. Made from large cinnamon sticks, of which I kept two for top and broke up the others. Bay leaves woven in between, 3 roses I have dried myself. What’s important to know is that the yarn was anointed with a sacred ritual and protection oil (I rubbed the oil on my palms and threaded the yard through as I made everything). Cinnamon sticks are amazing for protection, cleansing, banishing, and grounding. Amazing prosperity and health. I anointed this while a cedar spray, protection spray, anointed (dipped a feather in each oil and brushed over everything) with Go Away Evil, Protection, and Thor oils. You can hang this up in your home and it serves a number of benefits (don’t get me started on how rad bay leaves are). I braided some yarn and let it dangle while thinking of intention. This keeps your home safe, happy; full of love, laughter, health. It wards from sickness, evil eye, negativity energy from work or otherwise. It is also very telling for those in the spirit realm, to tread this path with respect (on both ways) and to keep any from causing any mischief in your home (well, not too much that is). Thor was petitioned as well, to wield his hammer and smash anything that threatens my family/hearth/pets. Witchcraft is just so much fun and I love the beauty that comes from it.
Mandragora
Well, I have done my redesign of arguably the least cared about villain, Mandragora, who only appears in Secret of the Lost Kingdom. One of the reasons she's not really thought of as much of a villain is because her English voices in both the Dubbing Brothers and Nick dubs are SOOOOOO over-the-top and cheesy to where she loses her sinister presence. I mean, she took control of Riven's mind, caused MASSIVE destruction to Alfea, had the good guys at her mercy, and nearly choked Bloom to death. So it's really her English voices that are ruining her character. But I also wanted to make her more active in my version of Winx Club. And I gotta say that it was really HARD to do an edit of her because of how she isn't seen in 2D.
Anyway, Mandragora is a loyal minion to The Ancestral Witches and created Selina. She is still the witch of insects. She was also the Shaman Witch that destroyed Icy's home world, Dyamond and turned Icy's younger sister Sapphire into a sapphire statue. All this was part of The Ancestral Witches plan to send Icy down a dark path to form the next generation of the coven.
Well, I ended up doing an image to go with the backstory I gave Icy, which is an edited version of the backstory she got in season 8. One change being that Dyamond was originally a kingdom of ice and snow but was turned into a barren desert planet. Making Sapphire was a MAJOR pain to turn into a statue made of a sapphire gem stone. Well, I might as well add her backstory here as well.
I'm keeping her backstory that she gets in season 8 where she was a princess of a planet called Dyamond and it was destroyed by a witch, who also turned her younger sister Sapphire into a fox. However, what I would change is that I would have the witch really be Mandragora in disguised who was sent by the Ancestral Witches with the intention of sending either Icy or Sapphire (Who are descended from the head witch, Belladonna) down a dark path in order to form a new generation of the coven, steal three great powers (The Great Dragon, The Shadow Phoenix, and The Leviathan), take over the magical universe, and free them from Obsidian. However, instead of Sapphire (Who was 10 at the time) being turned into a fox, I had her turned into a statue made out of a sapphire gem. The rest of Dyamond wasn't so lucky and died, while Icy, at the mere age of 13, was the sole survivor. Also, instead of the planet being turned into a snowy wasteland (Icy's powers are snow and ice so why wouldn't the world already be a world of snow and ice), it is instead turned into a heated desert of sand and no life. Icy then decided to seek out vengeance against the witch who did this by becoming the most powerful witch in the universe. She planned to free Sapphire from her frozen state when she became powerful enough. However, as she continued on her path, she became more power hungry and bitter about how she was always good and kind but she still ended up suffering the fate of the life she knew being taken from her. She wanted to take over the universe as a queen to make up for the crown that was rightfully hers being taken from her. In my version of the last season, where The Trix team up with their Ancesters, she finds out about this being their plan and destroys them with the Winx Club. Redemption arc? Maybe....
I love how the backstory is similar to Bloom's because it adds something to their dynamic and shows how two people can react very differently to the same tragedy.
