10 Shampoo Mistakes You Never Knew You Were Making
Hair/Scalp Help
Okay, I can't find anything via Google that really helps answer my question (because apparently only women with curly hair need help with scalp care?) so I'm hoping someone on Tumblr can give me a hand.
I have mid-length (about to the middle of my back), mostly straight hair that gets greasy if not washed every couple or few days. It's not colored, and I don't even use any products in it. I live in an extremely dry climate, and our house has soft water. Whenever I wash my hair, I get this white or off-white residue on my scalp. I don't think it's dandruff because it's not flakey, plus I started using a dandruff shampoo (Suave's Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner) when I thought that was the problem, but it hasn't changed anything.
Am I just not rinsing thoroughly enough? Is it something else? What would you recommend for cleaning my hair/scalp to avoid this?
I really like the aussie conditioner I use smooth and silky I think? And their six minute miracle is really great, I know some people swear by it. You can usually get the bottle for pretty cheap so its worth trying it out.
would you recommend aussie hair products?
i've never tried them. anyone have any opinions on this brand?
I really like Organix Brazilian keratin therapy conditioner. It helps the frizz a little, but it also makes the hair a little softer than the other brand I use for colored hair. It smells like coconut.
I can't seem to answer that question about conditioner but I just wanted to say if you can get your hands on it the Japanese brand LUX is wonderful. I have never felt my hair softer than when I was using that shampoo and conditioner, I also think my hair grew a bit faster after using it O.o.
Could you suggest a really good conditioner? I feel like all the ones I use don't soften as much as I'd like. And I have such long hair that I end up using 10 lbs of conditioner just to get it to be soft. Haha
Followers what do you use?
In the mean time, feel free to look at these posts of mine regarding shampoos and conditioners :)
There are some very common ingredients in shampoos to avoid. All of them tend to end with the word sulfate or something similar (sulfonate, sulfide). Sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) is common but isn't to be confused with sodium lauryl sulfate. They're often mixed up and SLS is much harsher. Things in shampoos (and more commonly in dandruff shampoos) that are sulfuric usually aren't good for you and should be watched out for. This is just from loose research, so I may have gotten some things wrong.
