Spring Break aka Runcation 2019 Race Report! ☘️🍺🏃 First off... The crazy thing about running is that when you lace up, you enter the unknown of how the run itself will go. I guess that's what keeps us going mile after mile. That, and the thought of pizza and a cold one (or two). Marathon number three wasn’t my best, but the weekend itself was a true success, and that trumps everything. Celebrating @sammproc’s 26th birthday with 26 miles was worth every mile. I surprised her by starting the race with her and after I finished, I slowly shuffled next to her during her final mile. That itself was something special. Celebrating Sam’s first marathon was amazing to share with our families and friends. Truly a weekend I’ll never forget. The course itself had its ups and downs, and no, I’m not talking about hills. Running along multiple long straightaways and through two military bases weren’t my cup of coffee. Seeing the lighthouse on Fort Story was cool, but with no pedestrians being allowed there, it was boring without anyone cheering us runners on. Miles 18-23 were tough for me. Not just cause my hips were sore, but the lack of people along the course cheering runners on. When we signed up for this race, we expected massive amounts of people encouraging runners on the boardwalk and down to the finish. Besides our family and friends, the crowd that showed up was a little disappointing. I think the post race tent deterred even runners who finished early from lining up along the finish. The post race party didn’t disappoint. It would’ve been great if it was warmer, but @yuenglingbeer helped with that. Today, I was a little tired and sore, but I’m already thinking of what my next half marathon and future marathon will be. #marathon #shamrockon #stpattys #runningcouple #running #racereport #runforbeer (at Virginia Beach, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvNNhyZBSIj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1uk749mi402yr
