Shance Café: Saturday Six

Hello writers of the Shance fandom, it is Saturday and Saturday means it is time to share with us your wonderful Shance stories!

If you need a reminder, here it is!!

Make a post on your blog with the title/heading “Shance Saturday Six” sharing six sentences from any of your Shance works. It can be from something you're working on right now, for an idea you'd like to develop in the future, or even from a work that has been published already.

Make sure to mention @shance-cafe in your post and use the tags #shancecafe and #shancesat6 so we can reblog it here. And if your sentences are from a work thats already published, feel free to add a link to that as well.

Also if you're in the Shance Café discord and want to talk about your current shance WIPs, you’re more than welcome to come and share more about it with us and ask for feedback in the server using the #fic-wip channel!!

Once again, this is open to every writer in the fandom who'd like to participate and have us share their work with everyone else. (Just make sure that you're sharing Shance works only and that said works are your own!!)

Shance Saturday Six II

This set of six sentences is from an extremely overdue Shance Secret Santa fic I’m working on (I’m hoping to get it done in the next couple days).

Altean courting season was almost upon them, and Keith in particular had proven interested in it upon learning about it; Coran had told stories about his own courtship with his husband 10,150 years earlier, and it had pleasantly surprised Shiro to see both Keith and Lance listening eagerly to his tales.

“It works like mistletoe, mullet,” Shiro could hear Lance saying as he hung up a sprig of flowers that looked like silver poinsettias and bright pink holly, “You get Allura to walk under it, and then you kiss her. That’s how Coran told us the Alteans used to start courting people. He talked about how he courted his husband a lot, and he really kept nodding pointedly at you, now that I think about it…”

“But is Allura going to like it?” Keith said, his hands fidgeting with his jacket and his posture imbued with the stiffness only nervousness could cause.

Lance smiled fondly at him and replied, “Allura’s going to love it.”

Upon seeing Shiro, Lance’s eyes brightened, and he called out, “And the best news is, mullet, that you get to see a demonstration of how it works right now!” With that, Lance pulled Shiro into a kiss underneath the aimourtia flower.

Shance Satuday Six

so, for this event by the great @shance-cafe, have a six sentence preview from my current WIP, the next chapter of Blue to Black:

He pulled out Pidge's phone, holding it at arm's length as they all posed for pictures. Takashi then posed, rather heroically in his opinion, for the mural. The entire experience was more than what Takashi expected, saving the pictures so Pidge could later edit them into a slideshow for when Lance returned.

The truth of Lance not being present was still a hurt to everyone's souls, and every quintant that passed where he didn't reappear only made his absence more prominent. Pidge had the idea of documenting the places and people they saved, for when Lance returned. Deep down, Takashi knew that it was to make everyone feel better, but he couldn't deny the results.

Shance Saturday Six

Lance looked away with a smile fixed on his face. “Yeah you're right.” He took another drink from his shake leaving behind some chocolate on his lower lip.

“Here you have something,” Shiro gestured to his lip and without thinking wiped away the cream.

Lance froze as Shiro wiped his thumb on a napkin.

He noticed Lance's shocked face, “I'm sorry, I should have handed you a napkin instead.”
