We live in a typical Shanghai alley house now where we have to walk through our downstairs neighbors’ kitchen and pass by their second floor bathroom everyday. I can see neighbors from another house walking through their staircase from this window. It’s a true Shanghai experience :-) one of the most charming ones! Hair Dye at Zen Salon

Last weekend, one of my roommates and I went to a Japanese salon which is in a mall next to Jin du Yuan. The salon has a sleek black design with mirrors casting reflections and shine throughout the salon. I wanted to get my hair dyed, and I have yet to try that in Shanghai. In addition, I have come across this salon several times along with receiving a suggestion from a friend. The stylists are very professional and the hair dyeing process which was supposed to take two hours took only an approximate one hour and fifteen minutes. They also give free tea and magazines to read while waiting. It was a very good first experience because not only was the process very easygoing but it was a lot of fun having a friend to talk to during this time too.

I would highly suggest trying Zen Salon if you happen to be in Shanghai, although the prices are a bit high, but it is worth the price!
