Dancehall has never suffered a shortage of hits for decades now and Shanseea is one of the newest acts trying to add to the lineage of Jamaican greatness. I’ve seen her content somewhat in-passing online, but I’ve never really heard much of the music outside of some snippets here and there. I’ve heard her dabble in both rapping and singing and this new release is more the latter. The production has the right and perfect elements that you look for in a dancehall track and she delivers for the entire song. It’s too bad it’s cold out but the song should outlast the winter months and be ready right in time for Spring and day parties. Knowing that she really has a nice set of vocals on her, it’d be nice to hear more of that as a twist to the typical sound we hear in the genre. Though she’s been releasing music over the last about 6 or 7 years, she’s really starting to heat up in the American mainstream market so we’ll see what more she has to offer with her future releases, but I’m feeling this one until then.
