Quiet Night Thoughts - Mid-Autumn in Suzhou
Mid-autumn, after Lunar New Year, is that one time of the year that I’ve always held so dearly dearly in my heart.
3 years ago, I was hand in hand with a beautiful heart, butterflies all over my stomach, talking about moon and stars.
2 years ago, I was with the same heart, ever beautiful, but perhaps it was no longer butterflies, but pebbles and sand weighting down my hood.
a year ago, I was there, someone was also there, but I was not actually there. soooo fastforwarding to this year
2015. I was blessed that I wasn’t with anyone, but I wasn’t alone either. Momo was with me, just 2 of us when Claire already went to sleep. Lots of emotions, I can’t really put into words, but the feeling was light, and the night was calm.
I asked Shilong where the best place to watch the Moon in Suzhou was, he said, after a few seconds pondering over my questions, with a slight surprised look: “It’s watching the moon. No matter where you are, as long as you feel good, you will feel good and will find it beautiful”. You’re right Shilong, I should’ve known all along :)
Let me cite a poem here, not just because I’m 30, but I guess many of us still genuinely relate to this. At the end of the day, home is still home, and if we’re detached from it, we are detached from a part of ourselves too.
There wasn’t any frost on the ground, but in the stillness of Shantang river, and the quietness of the night, I saw a sight of home vividly in my heart.
