It's actually really fascinating how we humans - with our brains that trains its entire life to become a shape-recognition-master - decided that the sounds (combinations) we make,
can be represented with certain shapes (combinations) and thus overbring messages to other humans that are not in range for our sounds.
And so, it's fascinating how we become really confused when our shape combinations suddenly don't make sense anymore, because our brain suddenly recognizes the individual shapes within the shape combo.

You ever stare at a word too long and now it doesn't look like a word anymore? Yeah, that's because you see the individual letters and not "the word".
At least that's my theory. A word theory!
Math Monday
While it’s entirely possible that all Mondays should start off with slime, my intention of using it to better understand 3D Solids didn’t quite go according to plan. Shorty was totally onboard for making the pink slime and enjoyed measuring out ingredients and mixing them together (definitely worth the using math for practical value). Unfortunately, she then got so hyper fixated on maneuvering said slime that she quickly lost focus on using it with the geometric shapes or discussing their similarities/ differences. Ultimately, I decided to set our timer for 15 minutes of sensory slime play before switching gears with a snack break and some more conventional workbook activities. I need to figure out how to reintroduce the 3D shapes without Shorty getting too over stimulated in the process. Maybe something with tracing, measuring angles or tessellation art?🤔

The Halloween google doodle got me very interested in stroke recognition. Took it apart the $1 implementation and rebuilt it from scratch as a way to learn and understand the mechanics of it. Here’s my web version of it, added corner detection from a different implementation I found that I thought was really neat.

A lecture from Princeton on methods of figuring out if two polygons are similar
Finally! An answer to my issues with the Sprout recognizing individual buildings. I think I’m going to use the Turning Function method. This will probably also help determining if two buildings are touching, and if so, which two and at what angle. Yay!
