I can’t, nor won’t support Tarte (thank god that I haven’t spent any of my money on any of their products).
Why would I support a brand who made a foundation that, as Patricia Bright says, “the crumbs from the table”?
It’s disgusting to see that in 2018 we have the blatant discrimination of People of Color. I’m working my ass off to try to even be seen as someone who is worth certain people’s time.
I’m not an afterthought. I am a person with feelings and emotions, and at the end of the day, I am a consumer. I pay for the things I want. I work for the things I want. I won’t waste my hard-earned money on “the crumbs from the table.” I deserve three Michelin stars for my money. As does everyone else.
It’s not fair to People of Color. It’s not fair to anyone else. Everyone deserves to be treated the exact same, regardless of skin color, sexual identity, size, etc.
Of course, there are other brands out there that are as bad or worse than Tarte. And I understand that. But when you have a number one product, I don’t think that this was an accident. And that’s what pisses me off.
I want change. I want it now. So I am blatantly saying that I will not ever
SUPPORT, ENDORSE, OR SPEND ANY OF MY MONEY ON A BRAND LIKE TARTE.
That brand isn’t worth my time or my money. In fact, I’m going to list a few brands/foundations with foundations more inclusive that I own (these are ordered by how much I love them):
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Foundation
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation
Revlon Colorstay
Revlon Photoready
A lot of Maybelline New York Products (I use the Fit Me Foundation Stick as a concealer, btw)
(That’s all I own.)
I would much rather support those brands based off of their inclusiveness to People of Color. And I’m not just going to let this slide. Not today, not ever.
