May I request a lion shapeshifter (I quite fancy the idea of a human just transforming to a creature that’s sleek, powerful and elegant), G7, with hmm a mermaid (>.> honestly I’m not sure on the relationship, species, names or genders, I just want some good old fluff).

The mermaid waited patiently for her return, lounging in the shallows of the lake, where the water had been warmed through by the sun. With their webbed hands spread flat against the wet sand, they could feel the thumping of her paws vibrating through the earth far before their submerged ears could hear her.

To their relief she appeared from among the trees at a leisurely trot. A running pace would have indicated something was wrong, but now they felt quite justified to roll over and splash their tail in welcome, calling out languidly: “Nothing after all?”

“Of course it was something,” she answered, her deep voice familiarly rough in her lion’s throat. “They’ve even made a fire. How can you not smell that?”

The mermaid held out their hand and was rewarded with a touch of her broad snout. “So, humans with a fire. Nothing worse?”

“They built the fire safely,” the lioness admitted reluctantly. “And I saw no weaponry, no signs of magic.”

“Harmless humans, come to wonder at nature, then,” the mermaid smiled. “No need to go scare them off.” They lifted their eyes to her feline face. “So you can stay a little longer, right?”

Even without her human face, she was capable of an expression of fond exasperation.

“Please?” they coaxed. “The water’s lovely… And so am I.”

She snorted at them, but the movement of her head that accompanied it kept going. It rippled through her whole body and slowly her fur flattened and smoothed into soft skin. Tawny gold melting into darkest brown and her body stretching upright until she was wading into the lake on human feet.

The mermaid splashed deeper into the water, nestling into a hollow in the sand big enough to cradle them both. The lioness joined them, lounging beside them and taking the time to fully soak and drench her hair before finally resting her head against the mermaid’s shoulder.

“There,” she murmured in her ear, her lips just shy of touching the water. “Satisfied?”

They breathed out a laughing breath, reaching out to tuck their girlfriend closer against their side. “Perfectly.”

how does one shapeshift genders

Well, its confusing, even to me. I, personally, dont know.

ooc: they secretly have shapeshifting magic(woaj) that they never knew they had. They just thought shapeshifting was a normal thing, then learned they are part of a very few group of shapeshifters, but still doesn't know about the magic they were born with.
