no, actually, he hadn’t. he hadn’t even thought about calling her or just her in general in about a month — maybe longer. yet still, kiyoshi asks / tells him to call her time and time again. each time, hanamiya gives little to no reaction to it, moving on with his life and not answering kiyoshi. no / no / no. why are you so obsessed with me speaking to my mother?
today, however, was a day for new things as it would seem; hanamiya stops his show, picking up his phone and dialing his mother. it rings once, twice, it’s answered before the third ring.
“ ….. hi. ” makoto, are you okay? “ i’m fine. ” the conversation goes from there and a woman’s concern turns to excitement and as she catches up with her son. while she — voice so loud it’s heard through the phone, all but begging for kiyoshi to listen in — speaks and ask questions, hanamiya himself gave nothing but fairly bland responses. it goes on for about ten minutes / ten minutes of him giving fairly dry or blunt replies all while staring straight at kiyoshi until the conversation is over and i love yous and goodbyes are exchanged. he hangs up the phone, blinking away / blinking back, then looking at blank screen and taps it to check the time.
