Vox's Tail (Headcanons)

If I was in charge of Hazbin Hotel character design, I would have given that terrible television man a tail. I haven't stopped thinking about this in days so:

Vox's tail is a little longer than he is tall, with asymmetrical caudal fins. The best candidate species for a tail shape is a lemon shark imo. So:

His tail is long and muscular, with well-structured fins (second dorsal and anal fins; the pelvic fins would likely be on his main torso if present). It's pretty durable, all things considered, which is a blessing given what Vox puts it through.

Though he does have nerve endings/feeling/control irt his tail, its size makes it somewhat unwieldy. Because it's functional and moves with him, it's constantly bumping into corners, furniture, and sinners, often times with enough force to bruise or damage. He's gotten so used to it that he barely notices anymore.

Especially given how much his tail betrays his emotions. It thrashes when he's agitated, sweeps back and forth with excitement, and generally moves alongside the rest of his body language on a more visible scale. Every one of his employees knows to stay out of its range if they don't want to be flung into a wall.

Certain parts of his tail are very sensitive, though, particularly around the fins and the connection to his back/torso. Valentino makes great use of this knowledge.

The tail 100% has a phallic connotation, and Vox is the one who starts it. He views it as a representation of his masculinity and he's super weird about it. As a result, he never makes a public appearance without the tail on full display, both as a silent threat and what he perceives to be a physical manifestation of his dominance.

Of course Velvette custom designs all his suits around the tail; his pants are lower rise in the back to give his tail room, and his shirts are cropped enough not to restrict its movement. The blazer is also tailored to part around his tail just-so, and she's been trying to convince Vox to let her accessorize it. She says it looks bland compared to the rest of his outfit. He does not care.
