Don Frye
My boy Derek Campos is awesome :) Love him and his family. Actually going to his brother Juston Campos fight this weekend in New Mexico. It will be his 2nd fight! Campos brothers do not mess around!
Check out Ed's article on Goyito's last fight on the Shark Fights card last week.
5 Results for Shark Fights 13
Shark Fights 13 wasn't a huge production, there weren't any fireworks or hot ring girls, but there were some great fights. Along with the color commentary by Bas Rutten and Don Frye, it was reminiscent of old baseball players commenting during baseball games. I loved the insights on what was going on, but I loved the chemistry both Bas and Don had. Good stuff. Here were the results from the card, and from the looks of it -- my predictions were HORRIBLE:
1. Trevor Prangley edges Keith Jardine - too little, too late
I feel sorry for Keith Jardine. I really do. He's a great fighter and I think he has it to be in the big promotions, but he just doesn't put it all together when it really matters. Trevor Prangley wins the first two rounds, which lit a fire under Jardine's ass to win the third. Why wasn't he able to bring it in the beginning? Where does Jardine go from here?
(-1) Prediction: Keith Jardine over Trevor Prangley
2. Houston Alexander goes all Sokoudjou on Rameau Sokoudjou
Now this was a fight. You saw heart. You saw bombs. You saw fighters. Rameau Sokoudjou came out blazing and went all Sokoudjou on Houston Alexander, but Alexander showed some serious heart. He weathered the heavy punches and made it to the second round. From there, Sokoudjou seemed done -- all gassed out. That's when Alexander took the fight back and reigned his own heavy hands to win it. Amazing!
(-1) Prediction: Rameau Sokoudjou over Houston Alexander
3. Paul Daley eeks out a win in the last minute of the fight
Paul Daley comes into this fight missing weight and not learning a whole lot of wrestling. After losing the first round, Jorge Masvidal had a plan and it was to use some wrestling. It worked. Winning the second round, he successfully did it in the third round. That's when Daley got pissed. He became more aggresive and turned into the Daley I love to watch. In the final minute, he was able to get two favorable top position and reign down some bombs from above to win it.
(+1) Prediction: Paul Daley over Jorge Masvidal
4. Danillo Villefort was too much for Joey Villasenor
Joey Villasenor didn't seem there and it was because Danillo Villefort fought his fight. Being in top position majority of the match, he was able to have control with submission attempts and striking. He just seemed like too much, and Villasenor didn't know what to do.
(-1) Prediction: Joey Villasenor over Danillo Villefort
5. Tarec Saffiedine's striking was on point against Brock Larson
Tarec Saffiedine just had the answer in his striking. Brock Larson wasn't able to work in his wrestling and if he wasn't able to do that -- he had no other weapons to go against Tarec. He was able to pick Brock apart on their feet and when it went to ground, Tarec was able to win it there. Sorry Brock.
(-1) Prediction: Brock Larson over Tarec Saffiedine

5 Predictions for Shark Fights 13
I'm super excited for Shark Fights 13: Jardine vs. Prangley. I don't know about you, but this is a pretty exciting card that includes Keith Jardine, Paul Daley, and Rameau Soukoudjou. I know it isn't the UFC or Strikeforce, but it's kind of nice to see a fresh face. The video above (click through to see video) shows that Shark Fights is for real with the amount of production they've done. If you're looking for MMA this weekend, tune into Shark Fights this Saturday. Here are my predictions for the fighters to win:
1. Keith Jardine out brawls Trevor Prangley in a barn burner
This is a must-win fight for both fighters in order to show the world that they're not over the hill. Keith Jardine needs to bounce back from a sour end to his UFC run, while Trevor Prangley needs to rebound from his Strikeforce loss against Tim Kennedy. They're both great fighters, but each is wanting to make a run back to the big show. I see this going the distance with Keith Jardine displaying a more all-around game, especially on the feet. I see him doing a ton of leg kicks.
Prediction: Keith Jardine over Trevor Prangley via unanimous decision.
2. Rameau Soukoudjou goes all Soukoudjou on Houston Alexander
Expect fireworks! Rameau Soukoudjou is a very aggressive fighter and Houston Alexander used to be. Houston is trying to come back to form and show that he hasn't lost his firepower after his embarrassing fight against Kimbo Slice. Although, I don't see it going his way at all. Soukoudjou has gone against top-tier opponents, and has held his own. Houston isn't top-tier, so he'll do fine and finish the fight in a devastating fashion.
Prediction: Rameau Soukoudjou over Houston Alexander via TKO
3. Paul Daley drops a hand grenade on Jorge Masvidal's face
Paul Daley is a top-tier Welterweight in the world. He just needs to hop back into one of the bigs shows, which is probably either Strikeforce or Bellator. In order to keep himself considered in that group, he needs to continue to fight somewhat the best. With that said, he'll make short work with Jorge Masvidal and knock him out with one of his hand grenades. Game over.
Prediction: Paul Daley over Jorge Masvidal via KO
4. Smokin' Joe out points Danillo Villafort in a stand up war
If you're looking for a fight, Joey Villasenor is an awesome fighter to bring it. He's going to be able to bring Danillo Villafort into his world and brawl all 3 rounds. With attempts from Danillo to bring it to the ground, Joey will continue to pepper in some shots and look good on his feet. It'll be a fun fight to watch.
Prediction: Joey Villasenor over Danillo Villafort via decision
5. Brock Larson displays superior grappling over Tarec Saffiedine
Brock Larson is a one dimensional fighter, but that one dimension will be enough to defeat Tarec Saffiedine. We've seen a good amount of a trend that shows that superior wrestling can overcome anything right now. Think Sonnen-Silva, Maynard-Florian, and even Couture-Toney. Brock will bring it to the ground and synch on a submission to end the night.
Prediction: Brock Larson over Tarec Saffiedine via submission
