The Lewis Balyckyi Glasdon Crit Series – 14/07/2016         

 We had a full age range present at Preston Arena, Me, Ryan Ashcroft and Lewis Hartley. It was great to line up in a race with a rider from the youth team also as it really shows the strength across the teams in VCUK.

This Crit was part of a buildup plan for me for a race coming up so I wanted to get a hard race, fortunately everyone else seemed keen also so the attacks went from the first lap and each move always had one of us in or sometimes two.

 With about 20 mins left I got away with 2 other riders one of which sat up after 2 laps leaving me with one rider to work with. The bunch never let up behind but I kept riding hard until we were caught with one lap to go. Those who don’t know Preston Arena it is a bit famous for claiming carbon on the last lap of races so I decided to stay at the front rather than dropping back into the bunch.

Going into the last corner with about 300m left Ryan kicked hard with 3 riders on his wheel which he held all the way to line to take the win. This was Ryan’s second win in 2 days showing he has really developed from riding the National Crit Series. Think me and Lewis finished top 10 also which was a good result for VCUK
