he’d notice the way you wring your hands tightly together, looking at them intently with knit brows

his expression a mix of concern and confusion, he’d reach his hands towards yours as if it were second-nature

a little taken by surprise you’d pull back slightly - xiao isn’t often this “touchy” with you

he’d wait until you settle back down again before placing his hands over top of yours, softening when you lean your head on his shoulder

“what’s this for?” you question at his sudden touch.

“they’re cold,” xiao replies matter-of-factly.

“yeah, they usually are - anemia, yknow?” you explain with a small laugh which, upon hearing, dusts a pink hue across his cheeks.

he lets out a quiet hum in response, keeping his hands wrapped over top of yours. as his slender fingers rest on the back of your hand you notice that his hands aren’t particularly warm either; in fact, now that you think about it, he often has his hands wrapped together in an effort to conserve heat just as you do now. nonetheless you value the gesture, even more so knowing that he, too, could use some warmth. 

his eyes stay fixed on your hands held in his as if staring hard enough can will them into warming up. his focused expression makes you chuckle absentmindedly, to which he takes notice and looks over at you with a hint of bemusement.

“it isn’t that serious, you know,” you smile, “i can go inside for a little.” in all truth you would rather stay on the wangshu inn’s balcony with xiao despite the excessive bite of the evening air that surrounds the two of you, but you knew he wouldn’t let you leave his side either way.

“no,” he presses, sounding a little more demanding than he intended. softening both his tone and his now tight hold on your hands, he continues, “no, stay here. please.” his voice quiets at the last word as he flashes his eyes away from yours.

“alright, if you insist.”

a contented grin stays spread across your face as you relax back into his touch, resting your head on his shoulder. he tenses slightly at your show of affection and you look up at him, letting out a faint “you okay?”

“you’re my boyfriend,” he affirms, “of course i am.”

the two of you haven’t been together for long, but the way that xiao says this so pointedly without hesitation fills you with warmth - although, unfortunately, the feeling doesn’t spread to your hands. 

you stay in silence with him for a while, your head resting on his shoulder and his hands covering yours in his lap, coming to be thankful for the chill in the air that’s keeping you close to xiao. glancing up towards his face again, xiao’s expression has softened - it has eased into one less concentrated and more gentle as he watches the clouds pass in front of the moon hanging over liyue. you can rarely tell his thoughts apart, especially in moments such as this when his eyes become painted with a sort of wistfulness. however, unbeknownst to you, in this moment xiao’s past is merely peripheral to your presence and the feeling of your hands held securely in his. as far as he is aware, this is how true permanence feels.

do you have any facts about jellyfishes plzzzzz 🙌🙌

I don't know much about jellyfish but there are two facts that I take with me since high school :

1- Turritopsis dohrnii can control their "age" basically. They can simply turn back into a polyp if needed, and that makes them practically immortal (they're literally called "the immortal jellyfish"). They are being studied and scientists are trying to innovate medicine with it. I really have a lot of respect for jellyfish because they are one of the oldest beings on the planet and have barely changed during all these millions of years. They are super simple beings but they achieved this "super power" that no other animal in the world has achieved.

2- Some people EAT jellyfish. Several Asian dishes are prepared with jellyfish meat and in Matsushima there is an ice cream shop that sells jellyfish flavored ice cream
