hey, i read something recently about how you shouldn't pet birds on the chest, wings or back because they read it as sexual behaviour and become sexually frustrated. the person saying this was primarily talking about parrots, but said it applies to "most birds" and couldn't give a definitive answer on chickens. i'm hoping to own chickens at some point, so i'd like to know if it applies to them and i figured you would be a good person to ask!
it doesnt apply to chickens, most information centered on pet birds just flat out acts like domesticated birds dont exist and the only pet birds u can have are either a budgie, a cockatiel, a conure, or a cockatoo. thats it those are the only birds on earth
sexual frustration is a problem in captive species that form intense pair bonds and have social needs humans cant even begin to comprehend or substitute, which isnt true for any domesticated birds i know of. chickens dont care where you pet them, sure they may do the Squat when you pet them on their back but that wont cause them physiological trauma because their social structures are very different
