Asylum seekers fleeing Indonesia and other places to come to Australia are placed into overcrowded detention centres on surrounding islands, where conditions are deplorable. On top of that, the government passed a law which means that doctors, nurses or teachers who come back and report about the awful conditions can face jail time for speaking up. cont...

And on top of that, there are 'Reclaim Australia' rallies happening where people (some with literal Nazi tattoos) are protesting Muslims entering and living in Australia. Some politicians even support these. There are also counter protests which pop up whenever these pop up in the major cities, and this past weekend one of those in Melbourne ended in violence.
