11. Do they have any special diet requirements? Are they a vegetarian? Vegan? Have any allergies?

Not really. Gisele tends to eat a lot though, just because her metabolism is very high and she burns through calories very quickly...more so when she’s expending a lot of aether, like an extended Red Magic stint.

22. What are their favourite insults to use? What do they insult people for? Or do they prefer to bitch behind someone’s back?

Gisele gets very condescending when she insults people, though she is rarely direct about it; she really is queen of shade, from the “oh, bless your heart” school of backhanded insults. She’s the sort of person who will smile and be sweetness and light at first glance but will say something incredibly cutting that you won’t realize was actually intended to be vicious until about 10 minutes later, long after she’s left the room. And it’s almost always regarding someone’s lack of competence (she thinks going after looks is low hanging fruit, as it were, and beneath her). The rare times she goes for direct name calling are when she’s exceptionally furious.

But she’s not one to insult people out of nowhere, either. If she’s insulted, she’ll repay it in kind (eg. with Magnai). Or if someone insults someone close to her.

If Gisele talks about someone behind their back, she has to dislike them enough for them to know she doesn’t like them. In other words, she won’t pretend to like someone to their face and then talk shit about them behind their back. Despite her penchant for playing games at times, what you see is generally what you get with Gisele.

38. What do they admire in others? What talents do they wish they had?

Gisele envies people who seem to easily find satisfaction, because she’s always been a bit restless, and there’s a bit of greener grass syndrome there. Some of this is for the sake of others; she often wishes for Aymeric’s sake that she could be happy “settling down” as it were, and being a conventional sort of Ishgardian nobleman’s wife. But he always points out, if she were at all conventional, they wouldn’t even be married (they have a poly marriage with Haurche and Estinien), and she wouldn’t be the woman he fell in love with.

Also, Gisele wishes dearly that she had any skill with archery. Her ineptitude with the bow has always been a source of embarrassment for her, given her Dalish heritage (her mother was an expert markswoman), and her overall competence with other fighting styles. She’s also long been fascinated by ninjitsu because it’s a kind of magic wholly unlike anything else she’s encountered, but she’s just never had the chance to learn.

46. Do they make a good first impression? Does their first impression reflect them accurately? How do they introduce themselves?

Gisele is very, very image conscious and so places a lot of importance on making good first impressions. Generally, she does. She’s very charming and unfailingly polite whenever introducing herself, but the way she does depends on who she’s talking to and the context of the introduction. She won’t break out the ridiculously long name and title in, say, Tomra or something. But at a formal function where she wants people to remember who she is, beyond Warrior of Light? Yeah.

Sometimes people do think she’s shallow and flighty at first glance, because she takes great pains with her appearance at all times. They’re quickly disavowed of that within a few minutes of talking to her.

50. If they could only take one bag of stuff somewhere with them: what would they pack? What do they consider their essentials?

She would honestly die if restricted to one bag tbh but if she absolutely had to?

- A pouch with her favorite cosmetics, creams and lotions

- Her silk bonnet, for her hair

- Her favorite romances, hopefully transcribed to Allagan tomestone so she’s not forced to choose between them

- a particular book of Hannish poetry that was a gift from Urianger

- a Doman santoku, her most prized culinarian utensil and the one she uses most by far

- (too many grimoires and history books to count)

- her sewing kit, for wardrobe malfunctions

angelica :   where does your muse draw inspiration in life ?   what motivates them?

Arae is about technology and often can be seen tinkering with various things. But his true muse is the world around him. Nature in it’s most basic form, free of man’s touch. He’ll sit outside on a beautiful sunny day at the beach and just listen to the waves crash on the shore. Motivation is simple: He wants everyone to have a good life and if he can help make that happen, he’s going to do his damnest to make it work. 

chamomile :   what is your muse likely to take away from a painful experience ?   are they one to be haunted by adversity ,   or to use what they’ve gone through to become stronger ?  

He’d take with him whatever caused the pain in the first place. It’s a hard lesson to learn, but it’s nothing he’s not unfamiliar with. Arae has had to deal with adversity his whole life, and though he’s been knocked down more times than he can remember, he’ll get back up. Though it’ll hurt and he’ll probably get knocked down again, it’s always about getting back up when he can.

📂 The group switches through jobs as the expansions move forward. They all vary in what jobs they can use, of course, but this is the system they usually stick to. It’s worked so far!

📂 Speaking of Danny, I haven’t quite gotten much into him and what he’s like in this verse. Danny does not have the Echo, but cannot be tempered because he’s a Wildling. The further he travels, the less he can hear the Elementals’ voice; but it does not hinder him aside from making him a bit lonely sometimes. Once on the First, he has to be commissioned prosthetic limbs, because the Elementals can no longer reach him.

Pg. 11: High Lorekeeper’s Livery

"Knowledge Seeks No Man. Knowledge Seeks No Woman."

'Tis a good time to break out those tomes and quills, because class is in session, and the Regalia has a means to teach you all a lesson in haute couture!  Introducing the eleventh piece of the PiB Catalogue's Hydaelyn Runway is an ensemble of academic proportions - the High Lorekeeper's Livery!

These scholarly robes are inspired by Old Sharlayan aesthetic, and represent the city-state well with the nation's emblem and symbol of its patron deity: Thaliak, the Scholar.  Even the most studious of lore-lovers, scribes and polymaths need to look their best!

Modeling for this intelligent garb is the Elezen known as Amenie Olesan, a Sharlayan native and esotericist.  Though reluctant at first, she was more than willing to serve the Regalia and represent her homeland after witnessing the fruits of the Mythrite Sultan's labor.

Study time, research, or lectures - whichever setting you're in, donning the High Lorekeeper's Livery is an ideal pick for your next intellectual outing.  May all know from the aura you exude that power comes from knowledge as well as fashion!  After all, even in such a realm, there is always room for a more intellectual touch.

Get to know my character!

39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct? 

I suppose the major thing with Etienne is that folks assume their gender is binary. We sure live in a society, etc.

The other thing would be Etienne’s race! Most people assume Etienne is a Duskwight. However, when they were on a male model, their actual race was Wildwood. I didn’t have a strong idea cemented for Etienne’s racial background, aside from the fact that they were unconnected to their birth family, and possibly their parents were merchants from Thavnair. After people began to immediately assume Etienne’s race (and… getting really weird and rude to them for being a Duskwight, then having to take it back), I decided on the narrative that one of Etienne’s parents was indeed a Duskwight. Since they’ve had their parentage confirmed, they’re more comfortable with being identified as such, and depending on one’s perspective, being a half-Duskwight is not materially different from being fully one. So, in other words, Etienne is culturally Ishgardian, and racially mixed Thavnairian/Duskwight. Connections to many different places yet feeling very disconnected to all of them! Immigrant narrative, bb.

Aside from that, I think folks assume Etienne is stuck up, prissy, or even a noble because of how they dress and speak to strangers. Etienne can indeed be a bit prissy, but they’re far from a noble.

For Adi, I think what you see is what you get. I think he’s not nearly as mean as he tries to appear to be, but judging how others react to him, I think most catch onto that quickly. I think most assumptions folks make about him (for instance, his sexuality) don’t come from his appearance, but rather his behavior and general social expectations.

35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go?

Etienne is not afraid of death. They believe that death is necessary, because a life without end or decay would be terrifying. To them, the idea that all of this suffering will end is a comfort. Death is a gift, and it’s a beautiful thing - everything would be meaningless if it lasted forever. That being said, they’re not willing to die just yet.

I think they’d probably want to die having a really good time or feeling good. Getting injected with something powerful and euphoric, or having sex so amazing they died (provided it didn’t traumatize the other person), or something like that. If they got to choose.

Adi claims to have accepted the idea of his inevitable death. He’s had the specter of it hanging over his head for as long as he can remember. But as he’s found more things to live for, he’s grown increasingly afraid to die.

He simply wants to die peacefully in his sleep, causing as little trouble for others around him as possible.

27. If your character was going to get arrested, what would be the most likely reason for it?

Dining and dashing or some other mischief they got into with Vander!

Seriously, though, Etienne is hyper-wary of getting into any trouble with local authorities. It’s not that they care much about the letter of the law, they just still have trauma from growing up in Ishgard, where power abuse was rampant and pissing off the wrong person might get you accused of heresy. They know their appearance and bearing tend to draw attention, so they make sure to be on their best behavior. They don’t want to give anyone any reason to bother them.

There’s always a chance that a mistake or two from their past could catch up to them, though.

It’s honestly a miracle that Adi hasn’t gotten into trouble for chewing out someone important in Gridania. I could see him getting in trouble for yelling at the wrong person at the wrong time or refusing to clear an area if someone needed help and healing, or if he saw someone being unjustly arrested and detained, he might get involved.

1. Ahru journals rather extensively! Though her actual method of writing can vary from descriptive and scholarly - even at times poetic, soul-searching - to a variety more along the lines of: ‘Today sucked. More later.’

She has around a dozen chronicling her adventures from when she first started out adventuring in Ul’dah up through current events (though, the habit started before this, her journals from before she arrived in Ul’dah were lost). Beyond that are a multitude of other (less orderly) journals documenting her assorted travels often outside the purview of her duties as a Scion.2. Though she hasn’t gone to the trouble to name any of them, she’s also written a few personal reports on her studies and whatever other ‘rare’ information she’s come across in her travels. Information about the Void, ancient studies of Mhach and Amdapor, etc. Some of these are steeped in personal opinion as well, though she often makes notes differentiating from the factual. As she sees it, this way should anything happen to her, the information -hopefully- will not be lost.

More recently she’s been personally seeing to having all of her writings converted onto tomestones in her spare time.

🍙- Snack

Nio is aesthetically like a parfait (or an onion if you want to go that route). She has layers. Only difference is that her layers are sweet!

I would say the perfect parfait for Nio would be a deep, rich chocolate as black as night with strawberries and sea salt caramel. Sounds like an odd combo, but I think for her, it’d work!
