“It’s bullshit,” Tony declared, a half-drunk bottle of wine slipping from between his fingers and landing comfortably on the couch cushions, his other hand slapping a newspaper on the coffee table in front of Sharon. “Apparently he’s requesting medical records, trying to prove he’s the kid.” It would be proven inaccurate, just as all the other Danny Rands were. The x-rays would be repeated, there’d be no scar tissue on his arm, and they’d all go back to their old lives – hope thoroughly extinguished. “All of this, everything, is bullshit. Oh, Happy Valentine’s Day.”
Anyone would be justified in thinking this was a planned meeting – that he expected Sharon to be there given how casually he greeted her. It wasn’t. As far as he was aware, she was on a very important, very confidential mission. As far as she was aware, he was beating the snot out of Hydra three continents away. “You want some chocolates?” he asked, going for the ottoman by the couch. “I’ve got six boxes. Sixth year of being together, you know that?”
A huff of laughter as he dropped onto the couch himself, side pressed to his cousin’s. “She’s gone,” Tony said with a sniff, popping the cap off the bottle – and then he thought better of it, offering some to Sharon first. “You get dumped too, or is this just a really pathetic choice for entertainment on your part?”
