❛ you don’t have to keep me company, i’m fine by myself. ❜ ( Cullen! Maybe during one of their late night insomnia moments? // sharp-teeth-and-wide-grins )
a prompt from like a year ago.
THE WOMAN WHO WAS NOT HERE A SECOND AGO fixes cullen with a look: a quirk of the brow, the barest flicker of a wry smile. ❝ the girl who would have worried about you needing company is long gone, commander. no need to form your defenses; i'm just a spectator. besides, i'm hardly to blame that you chose the best spot for avoiding sleep. ❞ and it really is an incredible spot. skyhold is deep in slumber, but it is so vast when it is empty, and moonlight spreads in a thin sheet across the mountains around its nestled form. elizabeth folds her arms atop the thick stone wall and looks out, not at the snow-capped peaks behind her, but at the empty courtyard in front of her, bathed in silvery light. ❝ your body will give out soon if you continue on like this, ❞ she murmurs, though she continues to direct her gaze away from cullen. ❝ you're slipping. ❞

❛ ugh. i can't believe i let that ol' fool talk me into this... i'm gon' have it out with him later, just you wait. this suits me 'bout as much as boots on a rooster! ❜ grumbling and fussing with the neckline of this stupid, itchy, frilly thing of a dress. even as a girl, all her shirts and dresses would be tattered and ruined with grass or dirt quick as blinking. and she'd sooner shout and spit than speak nice or whisper. acting, speaking or dressing- being- nice... it's just never really been in her wheelhouse. ❛ i reckon he's goin' senile. that, or off his damn rocker. you think anyone in their right mind's gon' be fool enough to believe this? ❜ simpering and striking the nicest pose she can muster, batting her eyelashes, before rolling her eyes and snorting with laughter. ❛ i got all the grace of a buffalo at a buffet. ❜

She had felt like a ghost in Whitehall, barely appearing during the day but roaming at night; she didn't want to meet strangers so that was when she'd explore or, like in this case, try to understand what sort of weapon that was. She gently poked it with a finger, walked around it, noticed there was a piece of glass, and just then she saw the Major and nearly jumped out of her skin. Well, that was one way to get herself hurt again, angering yet another officer in a red coat. "I didn't-I didn't-I wasn't." She nearly stumbled back, already knowing she had no way out, his men were everywhere and she was still too hurt to run. "My apologies, I didn't know it was your weapon."

@sharp-teeth-and-wide-grins for H.ewlett
The ongoing war had given Nelson great recognition but had also taken from him his right arm, eye and much of his time with his new family. He was eager to see his mission complete in annihilating the French fleet and resigning his commission, the end of the naval campaign for Europe was so tantalisingly close he could nearly taste it. However his mission was dragging its heels, he found himself chasing his enemies across the Atlantic and as a result he was in dire need of resupply, so he arrived expectantly in S.etauket. Coming ashore on board a sloop as his fleet anchored just outside the harbour, he arrived dressed in his uniform, sporting his three star medallions of his various orders, medals and most distinctly his diamond jewel upon his hat. The Admiral left his crew to the harbour master to arrange for the pick up of their supplies while he made a direct line for the nearest barracks.
He understood he was to find a Major H.ewlett who was in command of the local garrison. He was hoping to secure enough supplies to stock his fleet for the journey back across the ocean and expected he would need help guarding what provisions came for him. He was at first delighted to find himself directed towards the local church, thinking perhaps the Major was at worship. What greeted him on the other hand had him stood looking through the doorway in some shock... Were they horses behind him in the church?
Collecting himself, Nelson entered and checked the uniform of the man before him to make sure he had the right man. “Major H.ewlett, I presume?” A tired smile cracked on his face to accompany his greeting and introduction, “I am Admiral Lord Nelson. I was hoping we might discuss a possible escort and protection?”

~ “ I was thinking. Your ( Friends of Red Jenny ), as you call them -- its network seems to have reaches in almost every court in Thedas, and yet remains elusive to the nobility it preys upon. It is impressive. If I may ask...what is the goal of your organization? To simply sow chaos? Or something else entirely? ” ~
