In a hindu context,this symbol,the Shatkona,represents the union between shiva and shakti

Shiva is represented by the normal triangle,he is the divine masculine

Shakti is represented by the upside down triangle,she is the divine feminine

Often times during rituals,the idol of the god is placed in the middle of the shatkona.
