Like a ticking time bomb || shatteredgolds
No one hated after-school activities more than Katie Matlin. No one. Even despite the fact that she was involved in three of them. Most students at Degrassi were involved in one or another, mostly just for the socializing aspect. Katie had absolutely no interest in that part of them. She just wanted them to look pretty on her college applications. Anything to give her an edge and make her look better than the people she was competing against for a spot. She wasn't exactly positive where she wanted to attend yet, but she knew she wanted to get the hell away from Toronto. The dark haired girl rolled her eyes as she exited the girl's locker room. Her hair was still damp after soccer practice but she couldn't stand being around the cheerleaders filing in the crowded and humid space for one more second. Anyways, she had bigger fish to fry. All she was concerned with was getting this date (she used the word date extremely loosely, even in her own thoughts) over with.
To say that Katie was confused about Eli Goldsworthy's sudden interest in her was an understatement. The two barely even knew each other. They had a couple classes together in the past but, besides that, he was a complete stranger. He never attempted to even so much as befriend her in the past. Not even a simple 'Hey Matlin, can I borrow a pencil?' So, his sudden interest in wanting to take her out, let alone speak to her, left her completely befuddled. And annoyed. Really annoyed. Especially his persistence. If it wasn't for him, she'd be getting in her car to go home and edit articles for The Degrassi Daily. She wouldn't be headed towards The Dot to be around more of the people that annoyed her to her core.
Katie parked her car around the block so she could have a moment to be alone with her thoughts as she walked to the busy café that seemed to be a favorite for Degrassi's least desirables. She had ran into Eli before 7th period and agreed to meet him there if he promised never to talk to her afterwards. Her intent was to stay just long enough to make him realize that she had absolutely no interest in him whatsoever. Her slender fingers ran aggravatedly through her hair, ruffling her dark bangs as she entered the building. She casually tuned into some conversations—most including the phrases 'oh my god' or 'he is so hot'. A scoff escaped from her lips as she approached the counter raising her eyebrows at the boy working furiously to get orders right. "Um, can I just have a medium black coffee?" she asked, fishing some money out of her back pocket. She heard him make a comment about how her soul was blacker than any coffee he could possibly serve her which gave her some weird pleasure. "Thanks," she said, giving him a fake sweet smile, exchanging the money for the cup. After turning on her heels, she narrowed her dark blue eyes, scanning the busy room for Eli but not noticing him in the crowd of people.
Drunken State of Mind || Bianca & Eli
Walking into the apartment after a long and tired dance lesson, Bianca threw her dance bag on the floor of her room and plopped down on the edge of her bed in a huff. She wiped her head of sweat and fell back to lay on the bed, staring at her ceiling, unable to make the stress disappear even with a tiring class of dance for two hours. The curly haired girl didn't understand how every single conversation she had with Drew lately had to end in a fight or angry words, they had gotten back together one month ago and things were already getting bad. Bianca knew they'd have their fights, but Drew was having problems in his own life and taking it out on her and she was growing sick and tired of being his personal punching bag. All she wanted to do was find a release, get all the stress out of her and feel some kind of happiness and bliss. Sitting up, she grabbed her bag and rummaged through the bag till she found her phone, looking through the text messages she had missed and finding one telling her about a party tonight. Her curfew had been dropped and she was sick of being a goody two shoes lately, so she smirked to herself and decided she was going to have fun tonight, Drew-free.
After taking a shower and blowing dry her hair, she walked around her room with a towel wrapped around her and tried to pick out exactly what she wanted to wear. Bianca never liked to look like she tried too hard, but she also didn't want to look awful, so it normally took her a while to pick out the perfect outfit, especially for her first party where she didn't have to leave earlier than everyone else and she wasn't attached to Drew's side. Putting on matching undergarments, she began walking around her room in a red lacy thong and bra, throwing around clothes until she picked out a pair of light wash skinny jeans with rips in them. Feeling accomplished that she had part of her outfit, she went through each of her shirts until picking out a signature tight fitting shirt that cut low and was black. Bianca put her outfit on and pulled the shirt down to show the top of her red bra, smiling in the mirror at her reflection and feeling like her old self for just a moment. She was feeling good and she wanted to keep the feeling going all night, looking at the clock and seeing the time, planning on leaving within the hour. Walking to the bathroom, she fixed her hair till she tamed her wild curls that she hadn't had for a while. No more soft curls, at least not this night. For her make up, she went with a natural look, not wanting to cake it on like so many girls did. Once her appearance was up to her liking, she picked out a pair of heels and slipped them on, putting her phone in her back pocket then leaving the apartment without a word to her Aunt, already not giving a fuck. She hopped in her car, cranked up the radio, and sped off towards the party.
It was in full swing when she arrived, sauntering through the door and making her way through the crowds of people. She recognized a few people, but not many, which was better on her end since she didn't want to deal with people she knew tonight. Bianca found the traditional red cups and filled some with beer, gulping down half before she decided to slow down. She held her cup in her hand as she mingled around, dancing with a few guys and letting loose. The brunette couldn't care less what Drew was doing or where he was or what he was thinking and soon, once she'd had enough beer, she wouldn't even remember his name. After three cups of beer, she was feeling the effects and leaned up against a wall, looking around and spotting a familiar face. For some reason, she pushed herself from against the wall and walked over to him confidently, cocking her head to the side and smiling, "Eli Goldsworthy. I am very surprised to see you at a party. I always thought you spent the night at home, huddled in a corner writing vampire fiction or something." She teased him, taking a sip from the cup in her hand as her mind seemed to slush around like the liquid in her cup. Bianca was never the type to slur her words too badly or stumble around enough to fall, but she more just got numb and became the most carefree person on earth, "So what are you doing here, eh?" She smirked at him, her eyes glazed over as they looked at him.

Misery Business | Eclare w/ shatteredgolds
It had taken plenty of convincing on Clare's mother's part to finally manage to talk Clare into the task at hand. Normally she was the first to be gung ho over group projects, never willing to fritter away a moment's time of work, or Heaven forbid risk a sub par grade. But this, this was a much different case. All semester long she'd been chained to her unwillingly assigned English partner; broody, snarky, downright rude grade eleven - Elijah Goldsworthy. It had been a battle from day one of class, between his stubbornness, brash critiques and unwavering bad attitude, and if Clare could help it, she'd spent as little time in contact with said partner through the duration of the semester. But all good things must come to an end, she was learning, and the duo had been assigned an important project that she didn't have the option of skirting around this time. The assignment itself wasn't difficult; if she put her mind to it, she could easily complete the work on her own, but their methods were drastically different, and even if Clarecouldefficiently execute Eli's writing style, she wasn't sure she was willing to try.
She faked sick, but never having the best acting chops, that plan fell by the wayside quickly, leaving her to attempt a headache, being too tired to trek over, and downright refusal, which were met with aspirin, an offer of a ride, and a stern glare. And with that, Clare stubbornly gathered her things and began the trudge over to the address Eli had given her. He lived a good distance away, but she made decent time in her angry gait, arriving at the home in about a half hour. Suddenly nervous -and kicking herself for those nerves-, she stepped up to the porch, re-situating the beg on her shoulder out of nerves and lifted a loose fist to the door to knock, anxious to get this day over with and return to the sanctity of her home away from him.
