The Heidelberg Project

After the 1967 riots, Detroit was never the same. Neighbourhoods were abandoned and chaos filled the streets. One such street was Heidelberg, the home of artist Tyree Guyton who has spent the last 27 years transforming the neighbourhood from a place where people were afraid to walk, even in broad daylight, to one where residents could be proud to welcome tourists and visitors.
