I have commuter packs for both my boys. Gonna probably get the singletrek if we ever do a lot of hiking. But I do really like the commuter

Kaos used to run into Zeke’s stomach. (the gsd mix he was raised with) Maybe I should have gotten him some stilts ? I need giant furniture - imagine people who have purebred irish wolfhound and great danes…

@shawnnarie Yes! I've always been partial to clover lawns myself - they stay short, don't need fertilizer or watering, and bees go crazy for it.

Ppl get annoyed at K cause I use the same word in different tones for multiple cues and it confuses people, but somehow he doesn't get confused

omg same kinda?? I tried explaining the hand gestures (not going to call them signals because they’re def just gestures) to my mom, and ‘sit’ is just your hand closed at an angle towards them, “down” is like sit but with a slight knock like you’re knocking on a table, and “bow” is like down except you bend the wrist a little more. and she was just ???these are the exact same? but Sparta gets them right every time.

I find writing down a list for myself and for the other person really helps.

that’s what i’m planning on doing, it’s weird having to communicate what i’m thinking to another person.... i’m so used to just.... doing what i’m doing...... without talking about it or explaining it to anyone

so far i’ve just been using treats to train because he’s never been very toy motivated, but i feel like we’re hitting a wall with our training so i’m ready to try something new.

i saw @saraplaintall recommend braiding socks together too, and i think it would work as a short term solution, but fox really is very very very good at destroying socks. like, it wouldn’t take him too long to just shred it. he’s got an extremely hard bites when he feels like using it (for sock destruction). so far i’ve just got a tennis ball stuffed in a sock so that i can throw it

If he is interested in food you could also try a food toy then phase the treat part out

if food is involved he doesn’t care about the toy at all and will just do anything to get the food. once dakota tried to reward him for chasing the flirt pole and as soon as he got that treat fox just stood there and stared at him no matter how much dakota waved that pole around.

It's really common at one of our local shelters and not the other. The main difference I've seen is one is much more honest about their dogs issues and doesn't have a first come first serve (so they actually see if the family's situation is a good fit for the specific dog)

i think in this shelter their descriptions (if there is a description at all some more “exotic” dogs disappear before descriptions of up, there’s been a huge influx of young lgd’s recently but i don’t think any have come back yet)  are predominately positive, sometimes they just say “requires visit with any other dogs in the home”. but i don’t know how they go about placing dogs in home. i would say obviously not too thoroughly if they’re coming back so quickly.
