There was interest in meeting Xicheng babies expressed - so I wrote Xicheng babies.
A quick look at the opening of the NieLan fic from this idea - first 1k words or so because I’ve posted no fic for a week or so. Feedback always welcome.
The full fic is available now here.
He was trapped. It was dark and cold, stale air clung to his skin. He reached out to encounter a solid surface directly in front of him; it was made from stone and he tried to push at it but it didn’t move even a little. Feeling around him there were similar surfaces. Walls. Like he was in a sarcophagus. The truth of his situation dawned on him then and he began to claw helplessly against the lid of what was, after all, his tomb. The panic was real and tasted metallic on his tongue, but it was nothing to the feeling of fear as he heard a rustling of cloth beside him in the darkness; one that he hadn’t created. His breath would have caught but there was no longer any in his lungs.
Then that mocking voice, “Da-ge, why would you wish to go anywhere? We have eternity together”

My Words Like Arrows, My Heart Like Velvet (Ongoing) (XiCheng - Romance/Relationship Slice Of Life)
Various snapshot fics of a relationship between a pretty rich-boy and a hot mess. Cultured, refined Lan Xichen and sarcastic, easily embarrassed Jiang Cheng shouldn't really work as a couple, but for some reason they seem to like each other.
Most parts of this currently available were written as part of the Untamed Winter Fest so I’m not going to link to them in this post individually, but the #Jiang family AU should take you to them. There’s also an extra chapter in the AO3 collection that’s NSFW.
An almost confession

A Lan Sizhui Post Canon introspective fic for LSZ’s bday
A quick Lan Sizhui introspective for the sensible, responsible junior’s birthday today. Happy Birthday Lan Sizhui.
Lan Sizhui put the basket of rabbit food down and gently laid back in the grass, the rabbits parting around him like fluffy clouds around the sun. They were well used to being joined like this by Sizhui.
He found it soothing and enabled him to think.
His best friend Lan Jingyi mirrored him and laid out next to him. One particularly irascible rabbit took umbrage and gave him a nip, however, and Lan Sizhui giggled at Lan Jingyi’s irritated response.
“They only like you and Hanguang-jun” Jingyi commented as they lay there watching the clouds in the sky scud by.
He knew Jingyi didn’t need an answer and he didn’t feel inclined to make one. Instead they continued to keep each other company in relaxed silence, broken only by the crunching and munching of the rabbits around them.
It had been a chaotic series of recent events that had started at Mo Village for them, and had lead ultimately to Lan Sizhui finally remembering his origins from very early childhood.
It had been emotionally draining and at the same time worrying for him; along with the memory of what he had lost had been the fear that the people around him would treat him differently once they knew of his beginnings.
He’d confided in his best friend and Lan Jingyi had told him not to be silly. Most of the people close to him already knew, and he didn’t have to tell anyone he didn’t want to. And most importantly those around him loved him for who he was, not what his name had been at birth.
He had spent time with Wen Ning after Yunping City, getting to know the last remaining member of his bloodline, and Wen Ning had told him more of their history and family on their travels. He had been delivered back to Cloud Recesses as promised and they were awaiting the return of Hanguang-jun and Senior Wei.
He was using the time to come to terms with everything that had happened and everything he had found out, but he was eager to meet up with Wei Wuxian again and talk more.
He had always felt that strange sense of trust and confidence in the other even before he understood why.
He was slowly learning how the two parts of his heritage were fitting together; he would be forever grateful to Hanguang-jun for adopting him into the clan bloodline to care for him and protect him when Senior Wei and his own family had no longer been able to.
He had been brought up a Lan, with their rules, regulations and outlooks on life, and perhaps they did suit his personality very well, but he also had that Wen part of himself, and people who had loved and cherished him as much as they’d been able to before that, and he was sad he would never have the chance to know them better than through a very young child’s eyes.
It was why he was so desperate to cling to Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian, as the remains of that past.
He must have sighed or made some other sound because he felt Lan Jingyi take his hand and squeeze soothingly.
“You have as much time as you need to come to terms with everything, Sizhui, and you are allowed to mourn them, even though you have a family that love you here and now too”
Lan Jingyi knew him so well. He smiled something of a teary smile at Jingyi’s words and squeezed his hand back.
He was indeed very lucky to be surrounded by people who loved and cherished him from all parts of his heritage.
OK so I felt guilty I put JC through what I did in my day 31 UWF, so I wanted to do the meeting/confession fic to give him a bit of a break.
Nope, turns out I just like torturing the heck out of him. I love him really - I don’t know why I’m like this with my poor JC.
It’s not exactly a first meeting because obviously WWX/LWJ have been married for several years already in this AU.
Click the Jiang Family AU tag below to find more in the series.
Jiang Cheng’s phone was on speaker on his desk as he put the finishing touches to a commission piece, he wanted to get it sent to his client for approval before he set off for his brother’s for dinner tonight.
“Lan Xichen isn’t very long out of his relationship, so if you could curb your natural urge to verbally tear the pretty rich boys apart for the evening Lan Wangji and I would both appreciate it”
“I’m not a dog who pisses on the rug Wei Wuxian, I’m fully house trained and know how to behave in company. Mostly”
“I know, but how many times did I have to hit you on the nose with a rolled up newspaper to get you to this point?” Wei Wuxian mocked.
“I’m hanging up” Jiang Cheng threatened in annoyance and Wei Wuxian laughed.

First line: Wei Wuxian couldn’t understand why Lan Wangji had felt the need to be here, to see him leave, it surely was just making it worse for both of them?
