                   She had everything packed to the brim with the only thing remaining to haul up into the SUV was her daughter and her cousin, ready to withstand what little she could with the storm brewing on the horizon. Once the officials had placed the evacuation under way, they had wasted very little time in getting matters in order. They had all their essentials and the plan to make the journey with the rest of the residents pointed in the direction of Charlotte, hoping to reunite with family and friends in the city over in safety. But, Michael was Michael, always the superhero, and ensured his girls were safe and sound and ready to go before he took the beck and call to serve his greater purpose to the public. Naomi didn’t mind, she could handle this. It was just loading up the car and ensuring she and the rest of them were out of dodge, knowing  The crack of Michael’s driving joke haunted the back of her mind, something that she would have laughed about in lighter situations when the wind wasn’t swirling around their home and she hadn’t feared that yet another home would be demolished in some freak accident. “Shay!” She nearly asked if her cousin had Maisie ready though remembered in a flash that Roger had swooped her up when he jetted out that morning. She sighed out a breath of relief when she tugged open the front door to go out to the car, knowing her cousin would soon follow with the car seat, before she was faced with someone unknown. 

                   She didn’t entirely know what happened, but within a split second, Naomi was physically twisted around and shoved back into her home by a stranger. His hand gripped onto her elbow so strong that she had to still her movements and meander along with him with something harsh and cold pressed into her lower back, which had Naomi frozen. “Please... whatever you want...” She was cut off with a sharp, “Shut up,” and Naomi, with wide and frozen eyes, was shoved back into the living room where her cousin and daughter. With one look when Shay turned around, she would be able to get the immediate drift that this wasn’t a good situation.

                      "Okay, seriously? I don’t even know this bride that well and yet I’m jealous I wasn’t in this bridal party. You both look so goddamn sexy in that dress. I’m green with envy.” Sophia grumbled, jokingly so, as she gripped her glass flute to bring to her lips and sip from. Sophia loved weddings even when she only knew a handful of the crowd and the happy atmosphere for her good friend Mike had been a perfect distraction for the elephant hidden in her relationship. Well, until she spotted the fourth woman waltzing down the train of bridesmaids. “So, when is this bouquet toss? Am I going to have to throw elbows with you, Shay?”

                       “C’mere. Look at this.” Naomi ushered for her cousin to come near with her fingers. While the rest of the girls had began to get ready, Naomi managed to disappear briefly when she got a break. She didn’t need to slip into her dress yet, so she sported one of her favorite white button ups from Michael’s closet she was getting ready in, but Naomi wanted to share a little something with Shay. “This is made from Daddy’s tie.” Naomi murmured when she looped her arm through Shay’s and touched the straps of her wedding dress hung. “And I need a minute to breathe and think about him, y’know?”
