I was browsing through the self-shipping tag because it's cool and I discovered that I may not do self-inserts and self-shipping like the others ? Like I've seen a self-shipper describe every self-inserts they made as themself, as adventures that happen to them if they were in the fictional universe, meanwhile I may start out like this but quickly separate myself from the self-insert, like if I cloned myself. My self-inserts can have different personnalities, species, gender, powers or looks but they will still have a part that is me at the core, and crack ideas I get from time to time revolve around these different versions meeting. I basically say "This is me if I was in this fictional world, but since every experience makes a different person, they will each be different" like some people make OCs.

Does anyone else do that ?
