Her body ached as gloved fingers scrabble to right herself, to no avail. Signe felt cornered, her grimoire kicked out of reach, as she saw her assailant approach again. She ran through the questions in her mind; she shouldn’t have struggled in this fight, she reasoned. Had she simply missed her footing? Had she gotten distracted? No matter. The group of treasure hoarders mentioned something about making a pretty penny off of her, and with the wealth of information she had at her fingertips, she’d be inclined to believe it.

She was cornered, backed up against a wall, heart racing…

And then she sees the lead treasure hoarder fall to the side, and Kaeya standing just behind. She’d seen him fight before, sure, but there was a look in his eye that felt a bit… different this time.

“Kaeya—“ she breathes, groaning lightly as she tries to stand. Mixed emotions flooded the witch, but they were overwhelmingly pushed aside by elation to see the Cavalry Captain.

“—he isn’t… is he?”
