DÍS OF DURIN’S FOLK.
i feel heavy. heavy hearted, heavy handed, heavy footed. like there’s this great big weight. on my chest or on my shoulders, or somewhere in between. there are good kinds of weight in your body ; a heart made of gold. a brain full of dreams. a throat full of laughter. and there are bad kinds of weight. shoes of lead. eyes that are tired. hands so full you can barely pick them up. i will not tell you what kind of weight i carry. but it is heavy. but it breaks my back.
OXKENBRANCH. ❛ i learned to walk on like my father. wearing skin like armor. carrying my shadow. ❜
❛ others think they know war. they think they know the GLORY & the raging burning white hot heat hammering in a warrior’s chest. they have not seen war. they have not been on battlefields where all they can see is DEATH, DEATH, DEATH, an ugly chant sung as the blood splatters across their torn skin. she has seen war. she stands with the gentleness torn from her throat, soft things whittled from her teeth. in the empty spaces there is rage, in the empty spaces there lives a mountain of fire. she is burning & bleeding every day of her life. she is the mother ; she is the princess of her people. she is the lion under the lonely mountain.❜
