acceptance - muse a kisses muse b’s forehead and lingers
( ' not killing you isn't the same as helping you ... ' ) the first night they'd met, their chance encouter ... that moment seems to replay itself in the forefront of mhin's mind as they stand at the mouth of the alleyway, corpse of long - dead soulless laying at their feet ... boots shaken of the gore they were so careful in trying to avoid. a rush job — one that very well could have ended just as badly ... all because she had shown up, all so suddenly. so unexpected.
trouble seems to follow this woman every step, mhin's come to learn, as this would be FAR from the first time they'd come to her subsequent rescue because v doesn't heed anyone's warning about wandering around lowtown during the night, unguarded. unawares. she's stubborn — so much so, mhin was fortunate in their decision to follow ... no, not follow ... they just so happened (!!!) to be patrolling the same path that they'd seen her venture just moments before certain disaster.
mhin heard it way before they'd seen it, the deathly rumblings of a single STARVED SOULLESS lurking the dark corners of the abandoned buildings. mhin doesn't spare a thought towards a plan, only moves to action ... only taking a mere second before they unsheathe dagger from waist, and creature is not spared a single chance to pounce before they rush in.
hunter walked away from the ambush without so much as a scratch, though the adrenaline of the rushed attack presents itself in the phantom tremors in their fingers as they put away their weapon. mhin sighs, heavily ... they shake the deja vu from their senses ( maybe it's lack of sleep ... yes, they'll see kuras another day about that ) and turn back to the taller woman who now all but stares — though they're not sure if they're more annoyed at the fact that she doesn't look at mhin with any semblance of shock that they'd came out from the shadows to slay a soulless that very well could have KILLED her, or rather ...
... that she looks upon them with an expression of expectance. some sick sense of glee. there's a grin on her face that makes mhin tense. they can always count on expecting the worst when she smiles ... though lovely it is, sitting on her lips. or whatever .
another huff of breath and mhin's crossing their arms over chest, finally tearing gaze away from hers. this little pretense of annoyance wasn't difficult to perform- knowing they may not get paid for this impromptu hunt did sting a little- but there's a softness in mhin's voice that didn't quite meet the sharpness of their frown when they spoke next, intending for it to sound more harsh than it actually was. and failing .
“ when will you learn to stop walking around on your own like this. i've already told you how dangerou— ” words cut short at a sudden shift. a mere second passes and there's a pressure against mhin's forehead. lips. a kiss. spine stiffens, mhin dares not to move ... fights the urge that SCREAMS at them to move away from the unexpected act.
she's so close ... fragrant. warm, in her proximity. mhin can't help the fullbodied shiver that travels through their body. she pulls away. only then does mhin move back from her.
a small thanks for helping me. again. v's voice rings, floating in the air like a fine tune. mhin can only pretend to be partial to her gratitude.
“ it's ... like i said before. i didn't help you, so don't go getting the wrong idea. ” dusty pink flushes pale skin, hands raising to pull hood further onto their head. still, they do not meet her eyes, instead opting to count the suddenly very interesting cobblestones cracking beneath their feet, grout filled with bloody matter and tissue from the kill growing cold on the ground adjascent to them.
“ anyway, since i'm here ... least i can do is walk you the rest of the way back. don't need you wandering into the jaws of another soulless. ” mhin steps around her, careful to keep the distance between them and refusing to look back as they lead her forward to no true destination.
