"Man- when I'm Hokage I'm gonna have people who need jobs do this kind of work, not Ninja who should be on S rank missions..."

His grumbling was amusing. Seemingly the biggest thing that had changed about the brat in his time away had been his height. He was taller than her now. No she was not salty about that.

"I am paying someone to do it. You!" Oh this would make the day a bi more tolerable.

"Eh? You mean IF you are hokage. Right now, all I see is a sullen gennin." She felt no guilt. She just wasn't nice enough.

"And gennin don't go on S-ranked missions. They do D-ranks! By the time I was your age, I'd been a jōnin for years, already."

very random ask, but do you have any stories about your mird aka your dog (: and also what would you draw if you had the ability? (which frustration is painfully relatable btw)

This could be one of the most enabling asks I've ever gotten in my life! I will absolutely talk about my dog all day, any day. To the point of being annoying. 😂 So I'll start with the easy part of drawing.

If I had the ability I'd just love to create more fanart for both Star Wars and Star Wars fanworks. I'm a person that shows my appreciation through gifts. I hate commenting on things. I have very horrible and extremely situational anxiety. Unfortunately commenting on other people's work is one of those situations. I can't explain it. I don't understand it. It would be so much easier if I could just draw the author or artist something that pertains to their work. Unfortunately I'm stuck with words. And some days words just aren't enough.

But onto sort of more fun things! Beware: ahead I'll be talking about suicide, death, etc. Just be aware ok?

My dog.

This is Skye. She is my Mird. My Old Lady. My guardian angel.

I have 12 years worth of stories built up around this dog (her adoption day was actually just a week ago!) but a good start is our survival story.

And yes, it is definitely a survival story.

We had lost our family dog, Keesu, about a year before I got Skye. She had been a honeymoon present for my mother so Keesu was older than me at the time of her death. As a fourteen years old kid that was absolutely in love with animals I had been begging for my own dog for years. Once Keesu passed my parents decided it was time for a new dog. They told me they were getting a family pet and if I took charge and cared for her they'd either let me have her as "mine" or allow me to get my own dog. I was all for it.

Skye was almost 4 months old. Her litter was found in a dumpster and she was the last puppy left. I loved her immediately. Three days after we brought her home, Skye was diagnosed with Parvo. For anyone that may not know Parvovirus is a known puppy killer. Your dog gets Parvo, you have 24 hours to recognize it's not "just an upset stomach", get them on meds, IV fluids, and under veterinary surveillance. And even then chances are they'll still die.

Skye spent just under two weeks at the emergency vet.

She lived and I got to take my puppy home. Life was great right?

Nope.

See Skye is a unique and awful mix of Pit Bull, Rottweiler, and Chow Chow. If you don't know these breeds all three are known for... not being easy to own. People say: " it's all how you treat them" and it's really not. Genetics are important. Dogs are bred for specific things. If genetics didn't matter than we wouldn't have a reason to have purebred dogs. Pit Bulls are sweet and loyal. But they're bullheaded and smart. Rottweilers are calm and steady. But they're strong and vicious. Chow Chows... they're just mean let's be honest. 🤷

Skye got all of that.

One month after I brought her home she tore my arm up. I still have the scars from that first bite. She only got worse. She start leaping up and going for my throat. If she didn't want you to do something you were going to be bitten. Feeding time was a mess. She got to the point she refused to eat and chose instead to guard it. I couldn't enter the room unless she decided I could.

It was bad. It was dangerous. My dad wanted to "take her out back". As an adult now, I understand it and I agree with it. She should have been humanly ended. As a fourteen year old I begged him not to kill my puppy. Bless him, he listened against his better judgement. But my family gave up on her. She was evil and worthless.

At the same time I was diagnosed with a heap of issues. Severe depression, anxiety, a sensory disorder, a sleep disorder, and some others that were less prominent but definitely there. I wanted to die and I was willing to do it. But if I died... who would take care of Skye?

Was that a fully healthy reason to stick around? No. But sometimes all we need is one dumb reason. We need one thing to reach for and God sent me a very troubled and confused dog that needed me. So I learned. I learned how to read her. I learned how to understand her. I learned that I was the cause of her behavior. I learned it was me that enabled her to act the way she did. I learned how to correct her. I learned how to reward her. I learned how to live with her.

And after a year she stopped attacking me. After another two years she started eating regularly. After three years she stopped trying to attack other people. After another two years she stopped trying to attack other dogs. And when she was ten she actually started to enjoy life. She began to learn tricks, she got titles and awards. And this year we'll be going to our first AKC Rally competition.

Skye still has issues. Someday she gets overwhelmed and cranky and she bites me. I have so many scars from this dog. Growling is her main form of communication. Only certain people can babysit her and only me, my dad, my sister, and my boss can safely feed her. But I have issues too. And Skye has stuck with me through them all. She was my reason to live (along with Clone Wars actually!) and I probably wouldn't have made it through my teenage years without her. She's taught me so much about life, about people, and about dogs. It's because of her I met the people that gave me my entire career.

We're not fixed. We're in what I think is the hardest phase of life. You know when you get a wound and it you take care of it, sew it up, deal with the bruising and the seepage? And eventually it scabs over? And once the scab comes off you're left with a scar or maybe a limp? Skye and I are in the scab stage of life. Our scab is almost peeled off. We'll always have a limp that will slow us down a bit but we've survived looking death in the eyes.

I am positive, 100% without a doubt positive, Skye was sent to me as a Guardian Angel. Some people get angels with wings. Some with hooves. Some with smiles. Some with helping hands.

Mine has paws.
