Hi, I came to show you my illustration in the zine. I put my whole soul into it.
Choi Han: When Cale was born, the gods said, "He's too perfect for this world." Alberu: Please. When he was born, the devil said, "Oh, competition."
The development of Cale and Alberu's relationship throughout vol 1 and 2 of the novel
Been a while 👑🛡️
Alberu has such bad perspective bias. He looks at all the people Cale has gathered as his friends and notes that all of them are peculiar people but of course, he doesn't fall into the same category. He's an exemption.
But then you get other people's perspectives on him and they're all talking about how weird he is. The Chief Priest of the demonic god said he was similar to the White Star.
Hate to break it to him but he's one of the worst of the lot. You can't continue to say you and Cale are similar and not be in the top three weirdos.
We all know Choi Han has canonically 2 completely incompatible modes:
The horrifying emo, dragon slaying calamity swordsman
The emotionally attached rescue puppy with the saddest big eyes
He can switch between them in a flash, giving a lot of people psychological whiplash around him.
The first people to notice that were Ron and Beacrox too, I think. In canon.
My headcanon is that the first time he did it in front of others, like soldiers or others, it started a rumour amongst them. Like a ghost story of the scary swordsman smiling brightly at Young Master Silver Shield.
Most people didn't believe it… until it happened again.
And that started two new rumours/perspectives about Cale:
"Young Master-nim is such a caring person that even Swordmaster-nim softens in his presence!"
"What kind of terrifying person commands THIS fcking monster?!"
And then there's Alberu, who looks at the two with disdain and knows that Choi Han would commit regicide if Cale asked politely enough.
Though, it is not like Cale doesn't know Choi Han's violent side. He does, of course. But for him, the violence is contextual and Choi Han is still loyal and good at his core, which he is not wrong about.
…he just has an obvious bias towards his fav protagonist, but anyway--
