she takes a moment ... a moment to compose , to ready herself . mia takes a moment to remember this place , and this moment . EVERY DETAIL MATTERS , from the smell of the ocean , the feeling of sand between her toes , and to the micro expressions of an older man watching his wife . SUBTLE , but ? you watch people long enough you can see the wave of emotions . things left at the tip of the tongue and left unsaid . ( it was always said that she remember's things very clearly . like an elephant that remember's the the lioness sparing it from an untimely death . ) mia pauses her life for just a moment , if only to keep the peace she's gained in the present , holding it like some priceless and fragile keepsake .

there was no telling what her future looked like . that was pretty much the running theme in her life uncertainty . THE UNKNOWN . the uncomfortable truth that she always seems to find herself in , and forced to accept it one way or another ( and she has , of course . ) a job is a job , and like most it's unpredictable even if she plans it perfectly . THE UNIVERSE HAS AN UNCANNY ABILITY TO THROW HER LIFE UPSIDE DOWN . unprompted and and leaving little room to explore options more thoroughly . mia knows for certain that her life is about to get a little more ... CHAOTIC . a little more stressful too by the looks of the debriefing she got from petra . this assignment wasn't going to be easy , but then again when is it ever ?

Her hands remained cupped around the coffee in her hands. Gemma's head remained lowered, eyes glancing around at her surroundings now and then. Making sure no one was following, the winter days had set in, and it got darker quicker. Meaning Gemma’s enemies could blend in a bit better. Especially with the holiday traffic in the city, ‘god, I hate the holidays.’ Sighing, she brought the hot coffee to her lips. The warmth soothed her for a moment. That was when she heard the voice.

‘Going home isn’t an option anymore.’

God, it sounded like herself when she was a teenager, lost and alone in the streets of this hell of a city. ‘Gemma, don’t do it…’ She tells herself. However, before she could stop herself, she spoke up. “Why is that? Why can’t you go home? Are you lost or something? Need money?”

A tad aggressive , perhaps , but she really didn't have the time — or energy — to entertain a senseless discussion . Trinity was well ahead of her already . She wouldn't get any closer to them if she allowed yet another quarrel about something she couldn't logically change . And she certainly wouldn't wait for the other to come to her senses .

It has to have been out in open water for so much longer than this. Someone must have seen it. ‘ Out of everything, I thought the Mosasaurus would have been noticed sooner. ’ Just on size alone, they would have been hard to miss.
