Sheepscot River Valley Plein Air Painting week. Celebrate the beauty of the Sheepscot River valley this summer by joining us for a Plein Air Painting Week, July 20 through 25, in beautiful Midcoast Maine. The Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association (SVCA) will provide access to some private protected lands as well as suggest other beautiful locales to inspire your art, and the Maine Art Gallery (MAG) in Wiscasset will provide a venue for your completed works. The Sheepscot Plein Air Week exhibit will run at the Maine Art Gallery during the first two weeks of August.

To view some suggested locations in the Sheepscot river valley, see the SVCA’s website at www.sheepscot.org or pick up a printed map at the SVCA office, 624 Sheepscot Road, Newcastle, ME 04553. Participants will be given descriptions and directions to private sites once they are registered.

Guidelines:

Registration deadline is Monday, July 13 Plein air “week” Monday, July 20 – Saturday, July 25 Breakfast gathering Monday morning 8:00 AM, July 20 at SVCA headquarters, 624 Sheepscot Road, Newcastle SVCA Annual Barbecue, Thursday, July 23 at 6:00 PM. at SVCA headquarters (Bring your work in progress or finished painting!. Please provide an easel.) Saturday, July 25 - Bring art to Maine Art Gallery, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 15 Warren Street, Wiscasset (one block north of Route 1, off Route 218) Friday, July 31 - Opening night of 2-week show at Maine Art Gallery Time? Friday, August 15 - Pick up art at Maine Art Gallery, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Entry Fee ($50) includes 2-week gallery show, opening breakfast, BBQ, plus access to private sites Sales Commission (30%) supports both the Maine Art Gallery and Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association
