Write ten things about yourself then pass this on to ten of your favorite followers:)
My favourite colour is yellow. It’s just a happy colour (in most shades) and it feels bright and pleasant.
My favourite flowers are sunflowers. Partly because they’re yellow, but also because of the way they grow because they can get tall or stay short. One sunflower actually consists of several flowers packed together into the “flower head," which is probably why they are so large compared to other flowers.
I do not know if I am a dog person or a cat person. I have always thought of myself as a dog person but I feel I also have an equal but different appreciation for cats. I can have cat days where I want to snuggle with a cat all cosy and warm and quiet and I can have dog days where I want to play with dogs and go for walks with them and get dirty.
I never went through a horse phase. At least, not in the same way almost every other girl did. I did watch the Saddle Club, because it was all my friends would talk about. I never had a huge urge to ride horses or have a horse. It’s not that I don’t like horses, I just don’t feel as fond of them as most other people. I feel as if too much emphasis is placed on horses. As an Animal Science student, I feel annoyed that we have a whole subject dedicated to Equine and Companion Animals. I know the horse industry is large but I really have no interest in it.
I have gotten into the bad habit of listening to Audiobooks while I drift off to sleep. It’s now to the point where I can no longer comfortably fall asleep without an audiobook playing. My favourite are Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer (read by Jenna Lamia), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon (read by Ben Tibber), Socks by Beverly Cleary (read by Neil Patrick Harris), A Series of Unfortunate Events (Books 1, 2 and 7) by Lemony Snicket (read by Tim Curry), and The Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde by Oscar Wilde (read by Dame Judi Dench, Jeremy Irons, Joanna Lumley, Sir Derek Jacobi, Sinead Cusack, Robert Harris, Samantha Bond and Geoffrey Palmer).
I got really into watching YouTube videos last year. It started with just Jenna Marbles and Natalie Tran but it has grown since then. I don’t know about all the popular YouTubers out there and I am not fond of everything I come across (for some reason I cannot stand Daily Grace) and I subscribe across a range of viewing levels. If you have a channel or YouTuber you think I’d like then feel free to send it my way.
I’ve been playing with the idea of making YouTube videos for a while. I have been thinking about the idea to do a series of videos called Simple Science where I explain several scientific concepts using my own special ways. Such as the Plum Pudding vs. the Iced Cake atom. I also want to do some narrations of short stories and poems I’ve written. I also want to talk about social issues a little bit, opinion and controversial stuff. Maybe some vlogging stuff. My head is full of ideas but I don’t feel like my camera presence and abilities can do them justice.
I really like TV and movies. I feel as if it is a good medium to express art and complex ideas as well as a good way to find something that you can wind down and relax to. It’s something that you don’t often find in books, as usually they’re thought-provoking or at the very least want to keep you captivated and thoroughly entertained. Television and film has the unique medium of having the ability to be thought-provoking, creative, entertaining, and also allow you to shut your brain off and wind down. It can cause your brain to wake up or shut down. It’s something I find really quite incredible.
My favourite author is Roald Dahl. He is my favourite author for several reasons. I like him because he wrote the favourite books of my childhood, books that I loved because they were equally ridiculous and relatable. He walked a line between reality and fantasy. His books were shocking and disturbing to quite a lot of adults and some things got taken out of his books in the editing process because of that. When he first started writing, he wrote short horror fiction for adults until he realised that it was a better medium for children’s books. He found a lot of joy in the invention of the villain and their names and their behaviour. The villain and heroic behaviour transcended gender and age completely. I find myself comparing my love for Roald Dahl with my love for Tim Burton because they were similar in some ways. In fact, there is a quote about their similarities (I think it was said by Roald Dahl’s widow) in the Art of Tim Burton. I own the book but I don’t have it right now to reference it, unfortunately… May edit this later.
I am not really sure where I am at in terms of religion right now. Although I feel a connection with religions, Christianity in particularly, I find I have a lot of problems with religion and how people conduct themselves in the name of religion. I have a problem with the amount of division there is within religion, even within sectors of Christianity, considering that Christianity, Judaism and Islamic all find their bases from the same scripture. It’s a bit deeper than that but I do not want to go into a huge amount of detail on it. I just know that I am religious but I find it difficult to connect myself with something specific when they’re divided over trivial matters.
So that got out of hand quickly… It was ten things but a really long ten things. Sorry.
