Monument Rocks 6.12.17

It had been a long week and I work in a job that has times when it’s busy and other times it’s extremely slow.  Work is about to get crazy and I was looking to escape and take pictures of the full moon that was supposed to be out.  I got an email from Gail telling me he was going to go to Monument Rocks just south of Oakley, KS.  I am always amazed  that I have lived so close to them for so many years and only took the time to first visit about a year ago.  They are majestic. Just being away from work and spending time with someone that matters was a perfect way to end a long week.

The Great American Eclipse

I haven’t posted in awhile.  There was a strong storm that came charging into town and decide that water needed to be in my basement.  I’ve been busy pulling carpet up and dealing with trying to find my house again.  

I did escape to take pictures of the totality of the eclipse.  It was amazing!

Where It All Began ~ 6.4.17

I was raised by parents who valued the importance of a photo.  They cherished pictures of their past and of their present. I was pretty much raised with a camera in my hand.  Over the years photography has become my best therapy.  It allows me to escape, to slow down and to take notice. 

I began posting photos on Facebook and had friends asking to purchase them.  Hence the Etsy shop, She Just Snapped was born.  Most of my pictures have a story behind them and I was looking for a format to explain the story behind some of my favorite pictures, so here I am writing my first blog. I hope anyone who finds themselves reading this will bear with me.  This, like most of my endeavors, will be a growing experience.  

So the story behind this picture.... It’s an introduction to the child in me.  It was taken in one of my favorite spots growing up, the tree house on top of the hill at my childhood home.  It was a place to imagine, to dream and to escape.  It was my happy place.
