Saturday training ride
I had a Saturday off last weekend. I rode up to Woodward to enjoy a fast up tempo ride. I thought I would be riding at my own pace the whole ride. I was fortunate to have a fellow cyclist ride with me to Slater, then he peeled off to go to Ames. After we split, I rode on to Woodward, took a couple photos then drank a bottle of water and turned back to Ankeny. I was hoping to get some hills in, but was not able to because I took the opportunity to chat with some fellow cyclist and friends. When I rode up to Woodward I had to hop on the road to get around some construction. It helped my average out to the tune of 16+ for the whole day. On my ride home I "tried" to take it a little easy to conserve energy, my legs were having none of it. I only stopped once at the oasis on the trip back. I rode the road around the construction and it helped my average, again. I average something like 18 on the trip back. I was mileage watching on my ride Saturday because I wanted to watch my bike cross over 1000 miles, I did, I was thankful. I checked my odometer at the oasis and it said 1001. I am kicking myself for not getting a photo. On a typical ride I will hit the outermost parts of ankeny, and back off the power, and spin my legs out on the way home. I rode my legs off on Saturday, so I wasn't able to ride yesterday. I was disappointed, but happy with the effort I put in on Saturday. @centurymanoffdarails
