I just read on http://www.brettish.com/middle-stages.html that to research the role of Che Guevara, Jeremy Brett spent 6 months hitchhiking around South America and according to an interview:
"I worked there, too. At one point, I got some stones and polished and set them and sold them on the spot, and in Chile I got lots and lots of shells and with a pair of tweezers I made tiny little mice, which I sold for quite a lot of money."
