Vincent is now pretty drunk again. His eyes, sunken, unable to open properly. He stumbles ahead and stops in the middle of the dining room door frame to see what all the fuss is. He looks. Not much. Just a bunch of young people sitting, standing, talking, and some petting a dog. What a sight.

He looks down at his cigarette. Purses it between his lips. Gets a lighter from his pocket. Looks up, but wait--

NO FUCKING WAY... Is that who he thinks it is, in the distance? Is he imagining this in another bizarre dream? Sitting-- right at the end of the table of potheads-- golden girl?!

Stardust starts. Rom-com cheese ensues.

In a slo-mo CLOSE-UP, the cigarette falls out of Vincent's mouth, landing on the damp ground.

The CAMERA ZOOMS into our girl. As beautiful as ever. Sitting at the table, casually chatting with Audrey.

Back to Vincent, he is losing it. His composure, that is.

Shell of a Man

Shells are meant to be broken. Even the chocolatey kind that goes on ice cream. Especially those shells! Shells are meant to be broken and let me tell you why. If you've ever been a caterpillar like a gentle slug slithering around without purpose one day cocooned then this shell must be broken. For every second spent suffocating in change these wings have been built to fly over the claustrophobic walls. Shells are meant to be broken. As a hermit, I'm crabby. Wake me up too early and you'll see me slowly moving side to side like I'm mc hammer. Don't touch this shell. Its delicacies have been formed with fine art and many watercolors of blood. Painted pain always stains the carpet. Shells are meant to be broken. Sea turtles crush their way through life finding mates and dates in this vortex of doom. All in safe encounters, I suppose. I suppose I could do the same. Hurdled under the invisible force of unexpressed emotions. This could cause a mental explosion. A meltdown. My body corroded with this unspoken love that keeps floating. The circumference of not giving a fuck is measured by the radiating energy held in too damn long -- so like a slingshot I reach back and let it go because shells are meant to be broken. And this one I'm so tired of holding. Its cracked exterior is exposing so much vulnerable that it makes me feel so inferior that I want to cover up. So maybe if I take it off then you will see that under my shell I am just like you. A human who's bruises leak every time I speak. Can you hear the quiver on my lips from the riddled games of affection? Connecting more than four dots...cause you will never let me win your heart. I stutter before talking but you'll never hear it. Brain and heart armed for battle as I tell them both to forget it. And this is why shells need to be broken. Because if they aren't then they'll keep closing in on me and before you know it I'll just be a shell of a man.
