Found a Switch Lite wandering by the side of the road, which had either been abandoned by it's family, or bolted. (Highly likely leapt from a moving vehicle, or was thrown.) Either way, it was in rough shape and needed some TLC. After calling Nintendo and being informed their owners could not be reached, we decided to adopt and take on the medical expenses ourselves.
+The right joystick had completely sheared off (OUCH!)
+The R bumper permanently depressed (probably road grit/inflammation)
+Some gouges in the screen that have been deemed cosmetic only (scuffed digitizer), so we've decided to forego treatment rather than suffer the additional injury of separating the digitizer from the screen
+Scrapes and grit embedded in the shell, left joystick pad torn
+(emotional) 340 hours in the YouTube app, and not much else. Though it was found with a Spyro game card clutched in its jaws, so that's something.
There is room to be optimistic about a full recovery! My Homosexual Audacity had led me to (erroneously) believe I could handle this rehab alone, but luckily my spouse is much more level headed than I am and is willing to help.
(We're taking a break because it bit me and L has had to drill out 2 stripped screws)
Hey, Nintendo, I know you'd rather we mail these in to be repaired, but you should know that making your screws out of toothpaste really sucks and makes them very prone to being stripped even by the most steady handed, patient technician.
Will update this post once the operation is complete!
Unfortunately *both* speaker modules tore completely free of the board, so the speakers are dead in the absence of some creative soldering, BUT the headphone jack (and presumably bluetooth) still work so this lil guy will just play in stealth mode from now on.
In other news, both sticks, all buttons, and the entire shell have been replaced! Hooray!
