If anyone has friends that live in eastern Iowa. Please check on them. We are not doing well here.
On Monday (8/10/2020) we had a storm come through called a ‘Derecho’. This storm was the equivalent to a Category two hurricane. 100+mph winds sustained for 1+ hours. Power went out for us here at 12:35 that day. We didn’t start getting it back until Thursday. And a lot of us still don’t have it on Sunday (6 days later).
We lost all the food we had in our fridges and freezers. no one could get a hot meal for 2 days. Cold drinks and gasoline were even harder to come by.
There has been a constant hum of chainsaws and generators all over town.
It’s been in the high 80’s everyday since this storm came through. Luckily it’s been cool at night since we don’t have fans (a few people were lucky enough to get battery powered) and no ac.
But please. Check on the Iowans. We’re having a tough time right now
