Omg, what an interesting question. Okay so I’ve not watched TW since 5a so I didn’t actually know what this was and had to google it - it looks creepy af just fyi. I’ve done a little research into it and I think for Shane and Oli, the Anuk-ite would present itself as the other, if I were to get to the end of S6 with From Ashes, they would’ve been a couple so it would’ve tried to trick them that way. I think Elsa would see Scott, or her dad. Shane and Oli would open their eyes but Elsa wouldn’t, especially if it had been her dad, she’d have just told it to go fuck itself and walked away.
As though it were rehearsed Oliver and Shane groaned in perfect unison, their heads turning in an eerily synchronised way to look at Elsa who stood in the doorway. “You’re going to ditch us again?” Oli asked bluntly, not bothering to sugar coat it.
“Are you forgetting that we are team Shelsa?” Shane was cut off by Oliver clearing his throat and rushed to correct herself. “Sorry team Shelsiver.”

I like to think its a name they came up with probably around the 2nd Grade when they all became good friends. Like let’s say, 2nd grade popular kid Lydia Martin had a clique and maybe they had a little name for themselves (think the Ashley’s from Recess cause that’s how I imagine baby Lyds) and so naturally, Elsa, Shane and Oli decided that they wanted one too.
The name itself probably took a little longer to come up with, but they eventually settled on The Potato Commodores purely because they all love potatoes, in all of their forms. Chips, fries, mashed, they’re not picky. The commodores part was Oliver’s input because he wanted it to sound a little more manly.

Headcanon: Elsa, Shane, and Oliver have always been rough-housing troublemakers while growing up and it wasn't totally uncommon for Scott and Stiles to hear screeching and yelling coming from down the street.
Oh my god is this not just the best thing you’ve ever heard?! Like Scott and Stiles are walking back from the park or whatever aged maybe 10 and they find Oliver handcuffed to the Kirsch’s mailbox. “Don’t ask.” He mutters as they walk by, eyebrows raised. From the porch Elsa and Shane can be heard giggling hysterically. I love my brot3

I actually watched that movie last night haha! But yes I absolutely accept this headcanon. It’s mostly Shane and Elsa that sing it, purposely really loud and really out of tune in the back of Oli’s car. Neither Shane or Elsa have a car so they like to treat Oliver as their personal chauffeur. They get in the back together and sing loudly over the music on the radio, and when Oli get’s annoyed they sing the hangover best friends song to remind him that he loves them.
