(Writing prompt) How is Lyrica's void corruption now a days?
Lyricatossed and turned as sleep would not come to visit the rogue once more. After another hour or so of none stopmovement, the blonde woman hopped from her bed, unto the cold woodenfloor. It had been months since she lasthad any contact with her previous spouse. Her eyes roamed the darkened room with the only light emitting from thesmall embers of kindling that were left from her fire from earlier in theevening for dinner.
Afterall this time, she still had trouble sleeping alone. Her eyes brightened a bit as she spotted hersilver flask shining from the dancing flames. *Ahh…there you are my faithful friend* she thought to herself. Lyr settled onto the smooth wooden floor thatwas now warmer since she was closer to the fire. Sitting with her legs tucked under her, sheunscrewed the top and took a long drink. Sighing from the first taste of the welcoming spirits, she swallowed andwatched the fire as it crackled and popped, creating a beat of its own. Aside from the fire, the only other sounds shecould hear was the wind rustling through the trees outside of the small oneroomed home she was staying in. The kindundead woman who rented it to her was pretty generous in throwing in some woodalong with some crops she had grown. Itwas a reasonable rental amount that Lyr couldn’t refuse.
Lyricasmiled at the thought of the nice woman as she went to take another drink fromher flask. A frown splayed on her face asthe wine touched her tongue. Confusionfilled her senses as she looked down. Adrop of dark purple almost black goo came oozing out of the flask. Lyr gasped in dread as her eyes widened atthe sight. Dropping the flask on theground, she backed up to the wall of the room as the goo continued to ooze fromthe flask. It began to grow from thewooden slats that made up the floor as it spread about three feet wide andbegan to grow in length. Speechless fromfear, she watched as tentacles began to form. Lyrica tried to turn to dash towards the door but a black tentacle shotforth and grabbed her by the ankle.
Lyricaclosed her eyes as tears burned the corners of her eyes. Her body fell forward, with her jaw hittingthe wooden floor hard. A metallic tingecould be tasted as she looked down and saw blood running from her lip. The tentacle pulled her back towards the fireas it brought her forward to view it’s owner. Struck with fear and paralyzed by the pain shooting from her chin andthe grip the void creature had, Lyrica opened her eyes slowly and peered at themalevolent thing that held her.
“Youhave yet to give us what we want..” itsneered as its black holes for eyes bore into hers. “I-I don’t know what you want!!” Lyricareplied in a shaky uneven tone. “Yes…yesyou do..You’ve been so close at times yet so far.” “No, I don’t!” she argued desperately. The creature pulled her closer and ran a tentacleover her eyes and face. Darknesssurrounded her as she attempted to move but could not. Lyrica screamed but was silenced as her voiceescaped her. A tingly feeling of athousand needles prickled the rogue’s entire skin. She saw Andy. It had been too long since she last seenhim. He was talking to Lyrica as achild. She couldn’t make out what theywere saying but she noticed something that she found was oddly familiar. He handed her a rock. Wait? What the fel is that rock? she wonderedas she watched the interaction transpire. That’s not a rock, that’s a damnamulet!
Lyrica knew what they wanted but she knew what she needed. It was the key that would possibly help herwith her void corruption. Before thewoman could react to the epiphany, the tingling sensation ceased. What tha..Lyrica was free falling. The sky wasrushing from her as she turned herself to see a rooftop speeding towardsher. Lyr turned to plant her feet inanticipation of the impact. Daggers? Check! the rogue landed on theroof. Her entire body ached and theblood that had spilled from her chin was now beginning to congeal. Ithappened… she thought to herself as she relived the entire experience oncemore in her head. The roof stopped herfall but was now prodding into her back as she rolled over and climbed downcarefully, not to distress her aching limbs any further. Fuckshe thought as she opened the door to the small one room hut. “This shit is getting old.” She murmured toherself as she opened the door to the now disarrayed room that her unwelcomed guestfrom earlier made. Lyr made no attempt toclean anything as she needed rest. Shefinally had a clue as to what they wanted and what she needed but would need torest up for the journey that lie ahead.
