pearls: what's something about your personality that surprises others?

i’m super bubbly?? and i laugh all the time. also people can assume i’m shy because i’m quite open about my introversion but i would never describe myself as a shy person. i’m actually super outgoing but i know when i need my alone time so you’ll get one good day with me and then probs won’t hear from me for a little while hahah.

nah man sarah i can’t do this i’ll cry. i don’t think you actually realise how much your being there has meant to me over the years. whenever i’ve posted that i’m struggling with something or i’m having a hard time you’re the first person to reach out to see if i’m okay and to send me encouragement. i truly do not take that for granted. at all. your kind spirit is one of a kind.

you are one of the strongest people i know and i honestly pray that things get better for you and that all the light around finds its way to you. your kindness and your sense of humour are amazing (although sometimes i am 100%%% done with you and also the fact that you don’t appreciate how amazing mango is is A Lot haha).

Tell a story

I remember maybe 2years or so after I moved back to the UK, I was around a friend’s house and wewere just outside her gate when this little girl and her dad were walkingbeside us. So this little girl stops, looks at me and smiles with her headpopped to the side questioningly. She then proceeds to say, ‘excuse me, why areyou brown?’ and I was about to respond when her dad grabbed her quickly by thehand and started to tell her off saying ‘you can’t ask that!!’ amongst otherwords that I can’t remember now.

Anyway, the girl looked at me and startedcrying and apologising and you could see she didn’t understand what she wassupposed to have done wrong. What she was asking was completely void of prejudice and just aninnocent question. Like asking why the sky is blue, as so many kids do. Butbecause of her dad’s reaction, however well-intended, she has already been introduced to prejudice and a world where there is a lack of discourse and the opportunity to learn from the people around you. It’s a shame, really.
