It was upon reaching the ingress of Mass Effect 3’s intro screen (the one where we find the Reapers have taken to riding Earth bareback) that it hit me. This last hampered leg of our legato world tour would be one accompanied by tombs: mine, his. We might even dig them together.

The look in their eyes and the timbre of their voices as their surrender was denied.
All the things he would do right this time, if he were to do it over again.
Absent his distinctive armor and company, people often have trouble recognizing Shepard when they meet him for the first time. In person, he seems somehow less tall than he should be. He looks a lot more tired than the vids care to show. Above all, his face and his voice are much, much too kind.
