Many years ago I went through this phase where I would keep #FoxNews on in the background because I wanted to listen to and learn how to spot the best liars. This wasn’t an exercise based on my political views so much as it was more so about tones, pacing, vocabularies, and communication formulas. To me, these people are salesman, these people are artists, and they are good at what they do. And if you plan on being in the music business (or any business), you need to be ready to deal with deception in all forms. Their anchors and pundits used to toe the line so well and cross it in such nuanced ways. Of course they had their headline extremists like #billoreilly #SeanHannity or #ShepardSmith who I always considered to be their version of #MattLauer the token #JuanWilliams or the “sexy” #JulieBanderas to sell you on whatever #BreakingNews Alert (gotta love those red banners). Fox News was like the #Walmart of manipulation. Eventually, I stopped watching because I lost my cable (and almost everything else) and so I got into Local News, which i still watch “till this day.” So watching this mess yesterday was terrifying because they are just so up front now. They aren’t even selling the lie. And even worse, these people are in people’s homes. Our friends and family members. All day. Every day. That’s what 24 hour news is all about: manipulation, repetition, and sewing seeds of doubt by promoting a narrative rooted in fear, disguised as defense, family values, and advocacy. I don’t even think #Fox is representing the Right wing anymore, this is something else. They went from “We Report, You Decide” to “Unity Through Division.” This is the 4th branch that @techimmortal was talking about and they are hiding in plain sight. They don’t even need #AnnCoulter anymore! So like if you go to a doctor, if you’re at work, if you’re anywhere and you see a #TV that is stuck on this kind of stupid, change the channel, then hide the remote!!!!!!!! #WOFTD https://www.instagram.com/p/B1CSWTHj4jc/?igshid=1xsy4oi9qez5e
